Today I went to meet a guy who had been recommended to me for a full rebuild of my tired 430.

You know you are at the right place when there is a 65 Riv parked in the corner, he has two Nailheads in his spick-and-span workshop and he speaks TA Performance fluently.

Dunno how rare that is in the USA these days but I feel really lucky he is only 45 miles from me. And for his part, he is always VERY pleased to meet someone prepared to invest in the original engine, rather than have someone chuck in a GM LS..... no way!

I have made a big decision, too, based on talking to him and on factors outlined in my recent thread on this issue.

I am removing the LPG (propane) system from the car and going back to gasoline for future peace of mind, fewer issues, and far easier troubleshooting if need be in years to come.

I am also gonna be ripping out two crappy electric fans and getting the original radiator refurbished. AND I have just got my hands on a correct original fan shroud and fan!! All the way from Omaha Nebraska to here. With fan clutch too, but even if that doesn't work 100% at least I know what I am looking for as a replacement.

I have also *potentially* sourced a 68 Wildcat gas tank (mine was thrown in the trash during the LPG conversion) and am waiting for photos of that.

I take it ANY gas tank can be restored.....even if it is full of crud. Radiator shop?

Another question: my battery tray is corroded to hell. Does anyone sell these? Or should I just get plate welded into the same spot? (Not a 100% concours car, it's Right Hand Drive for a start!).

I am full of enthusiasm. It's only money LOL

    Hey Dave,
There is a radiator shop down my way (Hamilton) that cleans (hot tank), repairs and seals gas tanks. Monteith and Parker. They quoted me 300 nzd.

Where are you getting your 430 rebuilt?

Thanks for the radiator shop word. Confirms to me there will be somewhere just like that around here.
