Hey guys my engine builder is done with my 455 he said it’s 380 horse, 440tq, curious as if this sounds pretty good. Basically a stock rebuild with 800holley, and a ta290-94h cam. Just curious as maybe someone has similar build or what differences any of you have with numbers and so forth. Thanks ray
Mine is a slightly camed 462, TA 284-88H cam, stock Stage 1 iron heads and intake with TA shorty headers and a SMI Qjet It dynoed 410 hp 515 ftlbs torque Hope this helps. Jim
Sounds pretty close,...look for 14.40s in a full weight GS If you stick a 3k stall and some sticky tires with a 342 or numerically higher gear you would see some 13.80s or so depending on elevation
The torque number seems a bit low to me. Even a mild build should get up around 500 ft. lbs. Is it a small valve 455 or a Stage 1?
Sorry I do not know what it does in the 1/4. I need to fix a couple things first, the governor and the torque converter. It is quick shifting and has a 1700 stall converter. Jim

Just read JWs comments on stock rebuilds. Learned something. But my motor is a fairly mild 10.5 build with only a 228/237 cam and torque was 550. Do the aluminum heads add that much more torque?
Thanks all for the replies. Guess we’ll see how she goes here in month or so once I’m completely finished
Hugger. I think the stall my tranny guy put in is 2400 I can’t remember but I’m pretty sure. 3:42s. And it’s a 76 regal t tops. Still haven’t figured which tires/wheels go with. I think I have 7” rims. Still seeing options for tire I want
What is your compression ratio? Ask the builder. Did he measure everything? If they did, get the numbers. Combustion chambers, how far in the hole the pistons sat at TDC, piston dish, etc. I tried looking at your other threads when you were asking about pistons and cam, but couldn't find exactly what you used. Chances are you would get a bump in compression from the aluminum heads because the chambers are smaller, but you really need a true 10.0:1 or more compression to get the best out of aluminum heads.
You gotta remember that was gross dyno numbers,...no power robbing accessories,...no tq converter hanging of the back,..no transmission to turn,..no 3800+lbs to lug down the track ..ti.e it's in and all buttoned up,...its gonna take some time to cover the 1320 I'm a dream crusher I know,..I'm sorry ha,..but yea Aluminum heads are the best performance nvestment you can make you could take a box stock set of TA SE's and pick up 50hp on that combo,..plus some some serious weight
I ran when first starting a stk bottom end 455, small lunatic cam, offy 360 single plane low profile intake, 750 eddy, cheap tires 10" converter, 3.08 fear with m&h racemaster tires went 14.20s all day......added 4.10s and slicks when the racemaster were wore out and went 13.80
