If it was an HO it would have an aluminum intake and round port heads. It's a little hard to see the heads but it doesn't look like you have either.

Here's a good pic of a 455HO. Round port heads and streamlined exhaust manifolds, painted aluminum intake among its features.

    Block casting number #485428 is a 1974 455 (non-Super Duty).

What are the head casting numbers?

It appears that you are posting the date codes, not the casting numbers.

The block casting 485428 was used across multiple years, on anything from a Bonneville to a GTO, 2-barrel or 4-barrel.

Need the two character code by the water pump, should be something like WW, WJ, etc.

There was a 1970 455 H.O., but it was not a round port engine (steel intake too). The 71-72 455 H.O.'s were round port, and used an aluminum 2-piece intake.

You need that 2 letter code next to the water pump as stated.
455 HO codes are WC, WL and YE. Others would be D port engines.
http://www.wallaceracing.com is a great source plus if you go to http://www.performamceyears.com and go to their forums plenty of info there.

It is probably drilled for 4 bolt mains but has 2 bolt caps.

If it is in good shape $500 or so is a good number for the block/crank.

Performance Years has a for sale section. Check there. You can join and sell if you want.

The two letter code is D-N ,i need to order an gasket kit for that engine what would i ask for is it an 1971 Pontiac 455 thanks Denis.

D-N is near the distributor is Day-Night on the shift of the date shown when the engine block was cast.
The code I am refering to is stamped very near the water pump on the front passenger side of the front of the block. If you will look at the picture above you will see what I am talking about. It may be almost under the edge of the water pump. There is a flat surface on the passenger side of the block. The engine code, vin of the car and the unit number of the number of cars build on that assemblyi line.

Just a standard '71 455 gasket set is fine.
