Good point! :TU: I agree Mike... the more the better... I was just showing the minimum amount of sheet metal that would work for most of us. Keeping the sections small enough would keep the costs down and make packaging easier, but to your point, you need enough sheetmetal there to make a nice patch.
I found a guy that says he has a SET of NOS for a 64 skylark convertible, is it true that they do exsist. He wants 750 for the set plus shipping. Shawn
If it's the guy on Hemmings out of New York be cautious. I tried to get pics e-mail he said he could not get any and he was the middle man. If they are real I would get them for the $750 that is an unbelievable deal. You normally can't get one from the west for that amount that is rust free.
What a small worl, we are talking about the same guy, he also told me he was the middle man and had no pics. I think I'll pass on this one, Too bad there has to be some what Id say FAKE people out there. Shawn
I also will take sets to fit both the front & rear! I do have all 4 wheel Opening Moldings for the arches & I have a RH Front Lower Dogleg I had plans for a Patch for myself. It is in excellent condition & goes from the Body line below the Fender Molding all the way to the bottom with a good inner fender brace also. I would like to offer the Patch Panels on my website for sale if they are done properly! Doug 1965GSDOUG
Same here. I dealt with the same guy (i believe). No pics and would not agree to meet me at a neutral public place etc. etc. Then i drop the whole thing. I did not trust him at all. Then the guy continued to email me for a while thinking i might still go for it. Finally the emails stopped after i didn't respond anymore. This was about a year ago or so, so this guy has been at it for a while. Maybe we should set up a sting... ha ha! Gary
I have sent Wolf Steel (Alphaparts) an outer lower rear quarter, inner lower rear quarter, front lower section of the inner fender well (battery rot),outer headlight mount off of my radiator core support (again battery rot),the rear seat filler panels and the front lower lip of the hood (I included a portion of the inner hood support as well,I cut it back to solid metal. It will be shipped back as two pieces).I know most all of these parts rust out in this vintage of vehicles. So here is an opportunity for us to get some parts that are absolutely obsolete. If you need any of these parts call them and place your orders.
This is great news! thanks for getting it started.:beer There's a 65 GS website and forum at www.65gs.com You're welcome to join us there and share your project news.
I just got off the phone with Wolf Steel, they got swamped with orders and have just gotten around to making my parts. The rear seat extensions are done, the lower rear quarters are cut and being formed, the radiator core support right side headlight extension is being built as well as the inner fender well front patch panel (battery rot). The hood lower lip panel (the front piece that runs across the hood on the bottom side) will be made in two pieces. The lower rear quarter inner panels can be made but would involve too much time thus costing too much so I have chosen to install a complete trunk pan.The main body is going to the media blast shop next week and my frame to the blast shop to be blasted and powder coated. When I get my parts I will take some pics and put them on this site.Good things come to those who wait.
Hi Here are some pictures sent to me by 360welder1, parts are from Wolf Steel (alfaparts) thanks Bruce
