I'm a Riv fan and I came upon this '65 on ebay. I would welcome thoughts about the car and opinions as the the final price. As of this evening the bidding is at $14,100 with 5 days to go. I'm going to guess a final sale around 25k based on the fact that it is NOT a real Gran Sport (despite the GS badging). Color is black/black.

Does anyone know the owner or car history?

I'm pretty sure this car frequents Dukes drive-in. I've seen it in person and it's a nice car. But not 25 G's nice. IMHO. BTW, the original color would have been seafoam green.

It has a lot of things wrong with it. Deluxe interior with standard interior seat covers,71 and newer wheels with 69 thru 70 center caps,I know the guy is up front and states it not a GS but why put all the GS badges on the outside and not the one for the glove box door? The car was cobbled together to look good. I wouldn't go anywhere near 25G's.If your that interested in a 65GS I would keep looking.

I've been looking for a 65 Rivi G.S. and there's not to many nice ones for sale.
If I were going to spend 25 grand it would have to be a correct Concours Resto car!
    Happy hunting.

Being a dealer, the reserve will be well above market price. If you have the extra $$$ and aren't worried about paying too much then thats not an issue. Most dealer who specialize in classics market to the higher end buyer.

If you prefer a mostly original or authentic looking car I wouldn't consider this one. As others have mentioned it has several issues in that arena. If you don't care about that that then its worth a look.

The body does appear to be pretty straight but you would want to see it in person to be sure. If the body was originally rust free, thats a huge plus and in my opinion increases its value significantly "especially" refinished in black. The chrome trim looks decent and if the paint on the car is as nice as it looks, those are all BIG ticket items you won't have to worry about and would easily run you over $20k if restoring. The dual quads are always a plus.

Its a really late production car. Looks like 5th week of July.

If you're interested go check it out in person.

Interesting. The auction just ended with the bid at $23,100 and the reserve was not met.

Don't worry I'm sure that person that put in that offer will get a "second chance offer".

Also the seller may be guaging the worth. Set high reserve and see what some will offer. The funny part is when they put it on the second time and gets half of the original auction. Then it gets put on a third time with no bids.

    History repeats itself.
