65 Skylark "halo" roof trim.. Should I leave on or take off?

Wow, nice.. I'm kinda new to the world of stock Skylarks, and I've never seen a two tone one like that. Going by what some other members are saying, I'm guessing that's the way some or most of the regular non GS Skylarks came from the factory?

So here's the deal, I've decided I'm going to go black with a blue sparkle for the car color. The color is obviously not going to be stock, and it's going to be dark. There is going to be a lot of contrast between the dark color paint and the bright aluminum of the halo. and I'm really taking a long hard look at possibly removing the halo for a cleaner look, but it's still a really tough decision. I guess I spent too much time around mid-60's Chevelles. it's really hard to tell if the halo would add or subtract to the overall effect of a black paint job.

If going with a dark color changes things, let me hear what you guys think, and thanks for all the great feedback so far!

As DSAGS alluded to, I agree a light color within the halo would make it pop. I have been complimented on mine more than once by both car folks and passers-by. It stands out from a sea of monotone chevelle-lookalikes.

I aspire to be different from the crowd or I would have another Bb Chev powered Chevelle. However, it is YOUR car, and you should do it in a way that motivates YOU to spend time on it, proudly share with your friends and just have FUN!

I'm starting to think more along the lines of doing a two tone, but what is something that would go with a two tone blue interior. I love my car's interior colors, but I didn't really want a blue car, and didn't really want some funky, mismatched, color scheme going on between the exterior and the interior.

I know it's my car, but this is my first time building up a Skylark, and I've had a few difficult decisions to make such as color, and chrome, and this is one of those situations where there's no room for error because I got thousands of dollars on the line with bodywork and paint, and I only get to do this once with my car. I don't plan on repainting it, or having any more modifications done to the body due to the cost.

Normally I would of had more time to think about these things, but that's not the way this deal worked out.

Exactly. Like i mentioned before i wanted something different. I have been a Ford man all my life and know very little about Buicks but i do enjoy the new learning curve. If i wanted to be like everyone else i would have bought a 66-71 Chevelle, 67-69 Camaro, 64-67 Chevy II/Nova or a 65-66 Mustang. These seem to be the most common cars of any car show and are just blahhh to me. I like something you do not see every day. My Buick is the only one around that i know of, i did find a 67 Skylark but you can see the bondo in it from 100' from the road at 65mph but other than that there are no Skylarks or any other Buicks. Other cars rare around here are the 67-68 Mustang fastbacks, fastback Torino's or fastback Galaxy. Few Road Runners or GTX's. Few Olds Cutlasses or even GTO's

So for me to have a decent Buick that has different trim options than most, little different look and sound is fine by me. Dont mean to offend anyone but anyone can buy and build a 68-69 small block Camaro.
