I have been working relentlessly trying to get my nut and bolt restoration completed on the 66 Riv GS factory dual quad rolling chassis in time for the Hershey Riviera Owners Association National this week. I thought it would make an interesting display at the show. 238 man hours after removing the first bolt to start the job, the drive train is complete. I have not started on the body yet.

Tom Telesco rebuilt the carbs and will be bringing them to the show. We will install there and that will be the icing on the cake as the cliche' goes.

Had a little scare with the mail order exhaust not fitting properly but that got straightened out Friday night and thats all I was waiting for.

Car is loaded and ready to go tomorrow.

    Jason,

It was a pleasure finally meeting you in person at Hershey. Your rolling chassis display was awesome. My 10 year old's jaw dropped when were strolling the row of '66 - '70 Rivs and came upon your display. He had never seen anything like that before.

If the quality of that work is any indication of what the finished product will look like, I am envious already. Nice work.

    Dan,
I'm so glad you found me and we were able to meet face to face and it was a pleasure meeting you as well. The only problem with me attending the ROA national for so many years is that the number of friends keep climbing and its becoming difficult to look everyone up and chat. To my wife an I, its like a family reunion. Thank you for the compliments on the chassis. It is much appreciated. Hopefully we'll meet again sometime.

    Tom,
It was a real pleasure meeting you and working together to mount the carbs in prep for the show. :beers2: I had heard of Tom for many years but never had the opportunity to do business with him. He rebuilt my carbs and delivered them to the meet. We were out in the trailer installing them at 6:00 AM the day before show day. Of course he did this for no extra charge!

For anyone considering Tom for carb rebuilds or anything else, my expereince with him was outstanding. I just can't put into words how knowledgeable and down to earth he is and just a man of genuine character which so freely offers assistance. I was talking to another ROA member who had trouble with his headlights not working and he told me some nice guy named Tom T something came over, found the problem and fixed them. There was a Technical Q&A session during the meet and Tom volunteered his time to sit on the panel answering many questions for two hours offering excellent advice. This was not a paid advertisement.  Simply giving credit where its due.

This weekend I will try to post some before and after pics of the carbs in a new post on the nailhead forum. Here is one of the chassis on the show field. I received several thumbs up on the carbs. After seeing how much work was involved with these carbs once they were opened up, I shudder to think what it would have cost to get them done anywhere else and most importantly worrying about having them done properly. He actually put them on an engine for testing.

I'm assuming you mean the suspension bushings? I got most of them from RockAuto, the rear axle radius rod bushings came from Classic Buicks in CA and a couple other items came from CARS (oldbuickparts.com)

Jason - your rolling chassis was one of the best displays at the ROA meet, and deserved an award !!! :TU:
I shot about a dozen+ digital pics for future reference, and learned a little bit more about these fabulous cars.
It was a pleasure to meet you at Harrisburg, and a real pleasure to view your '65 chassis, and admire the work and effort you have put into it !
Well done Jason ! :beer :beer :TU:

Yeah Jason, I couldn't believe I was up there for two hours. It really felt like 20 minutes. Guess I was havin' fun!!!!! I would do it again!!!!! One thing I was really surprised about is that there were no "NailHead" performance questions. It was really a lot of fun. I like the laugh I got from everyone about answers being my opinion & yours may differ.

As I know it all Rivs & GS Skylarks were red. All others were green.
