Restoring an original gem, she is rough but she is all there and all original. 1966 GS factory 4 speed.. California car and full of smog goodies.. I know most delete stuff like this but in this case I believe it should be kept, yet should it be restored to actually function or is there an acceptable way to keep things in their place for looks yet not worry about function.. I have always removed everything yet this one obviously is different. Advice would very much appreciated.

My CA project car still has this stuff on too. Have any pictures of your car, sounds like a great find!

She is rough but she drove home, typical window channel issues, floors are solid, everything is there... For obvious reasons IE: factory 4 speed/401 I just had to bring her home yet on top of that for some reason I have been saving quite a few body parts for a 66... Not sure why but now I do, well if I need them... Might swap out the pass door as that skin may have seen better days.

Looks like we’ll be doing projects at the same time! Silver with black is a nice color combination.

Yes I was amazed it was orig color, odd thing is I have orig trunk lid also.. It seems to be straight and in good condition not sure why the brown one was put on and did not think to ask, just grabbed up the lid tossed it in the truck and had the wife follow me home.. almost 20 miles she thought I was nuts not to put it on the trailer.

I have done quite a few chevelles in my time only one buick a 72 for my daughter.. Let me know what you decide to do with your smog situation. I figure just restore it although as I am searching there are limited resources to bring it back thus I am researching the ability to keep it for appearance only.
