Hey ya'll, I'm happy to report back that my car has a 66 GS frame as of this weekend. Thanks to you guys, I found one before my restoration guy even got a lead. Jimmy is right, no one is better than ya'll.

So now the body is off of the old frame and disassemblied and moving onto the next steps of evaluation the damage and making a list of things that it needs. I'll be back with more updates and pictures. (Which forum do I post to for updates?)

Thanks for all of the help with the frame and the cool facts and figures and tid bits of my car's story. I'm an engineer and love digging into the details and there's something about this that is very appealing.

Denise Me and my son started our trip from Flint Michigan to Virginia Beach Va. with frame in the back of my Chevy 4x4 8ft. box stapped down TIGHT at 3 AM Sat.. Drove 13 hours straight checked out all the Very cool cars your restoration guy Raleigh has along with yours and then got in my truck and drove 13 hours straight back home :Dou: got home at 5 am sun. morning.I think I told Raleigh the frame came from California but Jimmy is 100% correct it did come from Va. It was a 1966 G.S. convertible midnight blue. They have some very nice cars there -1955 corvette ,1956 corvette,GTOs,Impalas ,fastbacks ect... I would be very happy to have these guys working on one of my cars.Your convertible is in better shape then the 2 -67 GS convertables I am almost done with and they just came out with a 1-piece trunk this summer that I used on my 3rd. 67 conv, frame off(much easier to install then the 7-piece)I wish you well on your car I think it is gonna turn out WONDERFUL. Mike L.

Wow, Mike delivered it? That's service!:TU:
Denise, Good to hear your project is moving along!

    To get you started:
You'll be needing correct hardware....AMK products makes the BEST, correct hardware.
    www.amkproducts.com
There is also a distributor in VA you can get them from:
    http://www.eastcoastbolts.net/
For body mount bushings, there STILL isn't a correct set available!... you have to buy some mounts individually from CARS.

A good place to post a restoration thread is the 'Projects and restoration' section over at www.65GS.com

Walt, it is absolutely GREAT service. It don't get no better than that. Last I heard, Raleigh (my restoration guy) was sending one of his friends with a big truck up to Flint. I've been trying to stay out of the middle and out of his hair. I want to be involved, but not a pain in the butt. I'm very appreciative to Mike and his son for bringing it down. I will send on the links for correct hardware. I think you really are trying to take over the 65 GS website with 66 GS. The website owner is gonna have to make a name change soon. I've been to the website, and I'll check it out some more.

Mike, thanks so much for bringing the frame here. Especially, this weekend. Lots of people around here were a bit preoccupied with flooding. Myself included. Thanks for the hats too. Service and gifts.:TU:

Jimmy, it's very nice dealing with folks who know their stuff. Did your signature always say "Technical Advisor"?

Wheelz, thanks for telling me about Members Rides. I'll be posting a few updates here and there.

After getting all of your feedback, I have more confidence in making the choice to put my car back to as original as possible and for picking Raleigh. I felt good about him right off. I'm so EXCITED that this is finally happening.

Haha! Yes I keep telling Chris I'm planning a hostile takeover!
But he's cool with 66 owners joining in. The board gets slow at times, so with more members, there is more activity....as they say...the more, the merrier! :beers2:
Besides, under the sheetmetal the 65 and 66 GS's are very, very similar. But I do like to point out that the 66 GS is a 'new and improved' version of the 65 GS!

Mike/Denise... something I've been wondering....how do you fit a 15 ft frame into an 8 ft long pickup truck bed?:Do No:
