Nice to see another 66 getting some pt love. I love my nailhead and I am glad I did it the way I did but a turbocharged 6.0 and a 6l80e with paddle shift is hard not to like or enjoy. like the fact that you put what you wanted for wheels and continue to personalize it. Have you looked into getting rid of the old spindles and looked into some aftermarket stuff.. Afx, ridetech, gm b body all are nice swaps and will make a big difference in handleing. I like the afx because I already run the c5 brake swap but the $1000.00 tag sucks. keep up on the updates. Have you looked on Pro-touring.com for "GM A body" builds. ton of proven combos that work great their.

    Greetings Paul,

I got the UMI control arms with the tall ball joints and a new steering box. I just bought a set of Chevelle disk brakes, but I'm thinking about getting a set of CPP drop spindles.

I read through your build thread and it's real cool that's for sure. I love the DSE stuff, but its pricey for no more auto crossing than I'll be doing. I may do some at GOODGUYS events but that's about it.

Does anyone need a drum brake set up or steering box?

ive been eyeing those new fox shocks, glad you like them
As for engine combos like others said, i'd go with a buick 350, or if you want it modernized then go for the GN turbo 6, just about the cheapest engine to make faster
    2004r I say is a better trans then a 4l60 which is just a renamed 700r4..
id either step up to a 4l80e or do a 2004r

    edit
If you already have upper/lower tall balljoints you dont need nor want a drop spindle
i personally would only recommend 2 spindles and that isnt one of them

Name names - what spindles do you like?

Picked up a twelve bolt rear end to build....

Anyone need a complete Buick rear end?

Afx spindles by speed tech are the best if you don't mind switching to 17 + rims
L&H Kustoms has their spindles which is just as good as afx..slightly cheaper when you buy everything
If you don't buy the add on you may stick with 15s

If you were looking at ridetech stuff I'd recommend their spindle otherwise no as it works best with all ridetech vs mixed matched brand arms

Steve - Did you sell the transmission out of the car along with the engine? If not, I may be interested in the trans. It won't bolt up to my GS cause the housing is different, but the guts should be the same as the ST300 that's currently in it. Would be nice to have some spare parts for the 300 incase something goes south with it.

    Hi Johnny,

Shoot Jim a PM - I gave it to him but he's not going to use it.

I'm using CPP's big brake kit. It's substantially cheaper than Baer or Wilwood and works pretty good on my 60 Biscayne. They just barely fit in a 17" rim.

Tried to use a GM LH8 pan, but the center link and tie rods hits it. Bought a pan from AutoKraft.

Got all of it installed, and am now working on the wiring and lines.

If you could somehow modify a set of finned nailhead valve covers to set over the top of the heads to make it look like a nailhead under the hood I think that would look awsome. Add a AFB air breather to the top over the intake as well. They would have to take a double take to see it wasnt a carbed nailhead motor.

Car is looking awesome. Keep the updates coming.

    Hi Jim,

Progress has been incremental, a lot of waiting on parts. The interior was ordered a month ago, still will be a couple weeks. I ordered gauges a few weeks ago, I think those will be here this week. I'll be ordering a rear end soon, that will be a few weeks, ordering wheels will take 6 weeks after I get the rear.

But soon all the front sheet metal will be going on, the stainless is getting polished, bumpers rechromed, wiring going in.

Good to hear from you Jim.

The valve covers will definitely have something Buick on them for sure. No Camaro or Corvette bits on this one.

Thanks for the compliment! I hope to keep the updates coming.

I saw the valve cover trick on a 69 Camaro the other day. Someone modified some big block valve covers to fit over the LS covers and you had to take a good look at it to see it wasn't a big block

You see my PM about the rims?

I will be interested to see what you come up with. I am looking to do the same thing. Looks like you are doing an A1 job on the resto-mod.

Walt is there anything or any site Buick related you don't know of? Yes the valve cover setup was what I was talking about. Just with the aluminum covers. Boy is that a sweet looking Rivy!! Thanks for the link!
