finally got it out of the shop today and even took it for a short drive. First time out with new suspension, wheels and tires. Felt really good and best of all it went a few miles with all the big parts in the right place. Has no dash in it so I didn’t want to go far but it sure felt good to drive it!

    Looks good, like the stance!
What did you do for new suspension? Those wheels look familiar, are they US Mag Bandits?

yep, US mag bandits. 18x9 rears with 275-40's, 18x8 front with 255/40's(will probably back it down to a 245). Tubular arms upper and lower front with UMI springs, Southside lowers and adjustable UMI uppers in the rear with UMI springs. Still waiting on my bigger/better sway bars but going 1.25" front and 1"rear. I rolled the fender lips on the rear for clearance, removed the middle fenderwell bolt in the front for a minor tire scrub. The springs are only temporary as my long term plan in going air ride. It really feels completely different so when I do the new steering box it'll be better too.

I've been really happy with the UMI control arms, springs and anti-sway bars that I put in. World of difference!

Hoping for power tour. Won’t be painted for sure but it’d be cool to take. Thanks!

Testing the cluster in the 66 tonight. Now ya see me, now ya don’t......
Disclaimer, no pristine Buick parts were destroyed in the making of this cluster.

    is that Dakota Digital gauges?

No, Dakota didn’t make anything that fit well so I went with a generic intellitronix piece and built a backing plate for it to bolt up with the stock face. Came out pretty good but I can’t wait to install my dash again!

here's the new Spohn front sway bar. This one is 1 5/16 and I also added a rear one that's 1" diameter. Should really improve body roll since it didn't even HAVE a rear one before! sway bar.jpg

Those sway bays are going to make a huge difference! IMO, the best mods for these early cars are sway bars, discs, and fast ratio steering box.

  17. I went with those size sway bars on my 67 and felt they were a little too much

I ordered a quick ratio box from Hector today. Adding 5 degrees of caster with my new upper arms too. Should feel and drive completely different now between the bars, the new suspension, quick box and big tires. It's not likely to handle with my Camaro but it should get some interest if I ever take it to an autocross!!

how so? I'm a road racer at heart so I love the feel of really tight sway bars and steering. Hell, the last road race I did I drove a 67 Shelby GT500 in a vintage class and it has manual steering....WITH a 428BBF motor. Drove like a school bus and cornered almost as bad with the nose push it had!!

  20. On the street it was a bit much for me. In hindsight I would have gone 7/8 rear 1 1/8 front
