So this happened all of a sudden? Remind me what ignition you are running?

    Wattya running for a distributor?
Some MSD HEI modules have a built in rev-limiter. I'm thinking , like Mark , it is coil , module or perhaps distributor related. Strange it will rev higher in nuetral. Timing issue, sticking advance weights, advance spring pop off....

    GM HEI

I just took apart and put back together the HEI, there didn't seem to be much of any physical issues at all. Electrical however, will remain to be seen.

I took my procomp rev limiter, and now set it way high at 9500, just to see if it was somehow kicking in under WOT load. If that doesn't work, I'll disable it first to see if that works.

GM HEI coils have been known to do that.

Mark said that too, its the cheapo Chinesesium they put in the coils.

Should I buy a new cap so fast?

Agree on the HEI coil. Also, is that a Procomp brand limiter? If it is, there are a lot of issues with Procomp parts especially their electrical parts. Chinese knockoffs of good stuff.

John that distributor in the link you posted is the same one I'm running and I've had zero issues with it.

If it is not the rev limiter that is giving me hell, I might as well order that for my birthday.

Ahh not too far away then, mine just passed on March 19. Get the distributor and a bottle of jack and you're good to go!:):D. It must suck with the legal drinking age being 21 down thereo_O up here its 19 but by that time most of us already had 7 years experience :p:D. Can you guys get Crown Royal Whiskey down there?

Things I need to solve NOW:

    ✅1. Tighten front brakes
    ✅2. This useless choke
✅3. Breaking up/rev limiter: removed it for now
✅4. Engine tapping noise: Likely to be an exhaust leak
✅5. Clean the dang windshield or the whole car

Does it rev higher than 4200 in 2nd gear? If it does so get rid of the rev limiter before purchasing anything.

What are you drinking and the sooner the better. Just what I like to read about in a car discussion/forum. :(

A little improvement, wouldn’t you agree?
When testing the old and beat ET Streets, I was able to get them to spin pretty easily in 1st gear. Not sure it’ll be so easy next time
