Does anyone know is it possible to convert standard bucket seats to reclining bucket seats? What parts are needed if possible? These would be for a 67 Skylark. Thanks.

It is NOT possible to convert them. The frames are different and the mechanisms are different. On your year car the only seat that had the recliner would have been the passenger side, and they do not go all the way down like the newer cars do.

There is an original 67 passenger side recliner for sale on the board right now. They were an extremely rare option and are expensive.

If you are thinking about altering a set of seats to do this, I would strongly not recommend this. The liabilities of doing something like this is not something I would want to consider.

Thank you for the info, I did see that seat unfortunately after I bought some, otherwise I would have probably picked that you up.

If you can stuff & run a big block in a smart car . Im 100% sure you can make a set of 67 buckets recline.. They won't look stock.

I suppose if I had one to go by or perhaps pictures of how it worked I could probably fabricate one but it would have to look and operate as stock

My car has the correct-for-1969 reclining passenger bucket. It has the recline lever on the lower right side and the seat back release on the top right.

It also has a "correct-for-1969" reclining driver's bucket, i.e. same style of release as the passenger seat, but recline lever on the left side and seatback release on the top left. i'm told it is not factory and someone must have converted it. So it is possible somehow.

Not sure how to convert one without talking to someone who has done one already. I have not seen a reproduction handle even made for the stock recliner seat. I have not seen a reproduction frame made for a reclining bucket.
