I have a very nice pair of '69 headlight bezels, from a low mileage car. Email me for pics, etc.: drolds1@bellsouth.net. Thanks, Bob.
Front bumper is the same 68/69 Headlight bezels are different 68/69 - the center divider between the 2 lights is like a "T" on 68's and 69's they are rounded. Fit and function are the same 68 grille - 2 types, 9 horizontal bars = GS (and perhaps a few others), 13 vertical bars = Skylark/SportWagon 68 Grilles are 3 pieces with the left/right lower outside "ears" mounted to the grille mount seperately from the grille 68 Chrome surround - 1 type for all grilles - no center horizontal bar 69 Grille - 2 types, GS and non-GS 69 Grilles have the L/R lower outer "ears" molded into them and is one complete piece (and it is not upcommon for the ears to break off) 69 Chrome surround - same as 68 BUT with a center horixontal bar added
This may be frowned apon to do, but has anyone ever modified a 69 grill surround to work with a 68 GS grill? im wanting to use a 68 GS grill on my 69 sport wagon, but the grill surround is in rough shape so i thought about making it look some what decent and cutting the center horizontal bar out.
Let me look this weekend for a 68 surround for you. What condition/price are you after ? Might have usable headlite bezels too
Im not looking for the highest quality pieces or spend a whole just something usable that looks somewhat decent, this car is a driver.
i have some of the parts you are looking for, so where are you located? the grille surround is over $60 to ship cause of it's size. I know cause I sold one last year.
I found a bumper local, but shipping isnt that big of deal because I could get it shipped to my work place, which through UPS ground you can ship it to a business cheaper. I'm located in Wichita,Ks.
If you do just shoot me a PM! and yeah im going after looks, I really like the look of the 68 nose. TA's wagon is kinda my inspiration on that.
Not sure if this is the appropriate place to ask this question, But earlier in this thread, it was mentioned that there are two grill styles for 1968, one with 8 horizontal bars, and one with 12? horizontal bars. I have not seen a grill (or paid enough attention) with more than 8 horizontal bars. So I am assuming the 1968 grill with more horizontal bars is more rare, more desirable? Please clarify. As you can see in my photo, I may scrounge around for a grill when we get to that point in our project. I did observe that 1969 grills are different, and observed that 1969 GS grills are different then 1969 Skylark grills.
Two different grills in '68 8 bars = Skylark & GS (GS grill was painted black, Skylark was silver) 12 bars = Special and Sportwagon (painted black) The 12 bars would not be correct for a GS but will fit and it is not more rare or desirable.
