The pulley is usually mounted via the studs of the water pump hub. Some people use bolts, however, it's more cumbersome than spinning on the nuts by hand. Here is an image of a stud that would be used for the application. fine threads on the water pump side - coarser threads to clamp the pulley on to the hub. 5/16th diameter.
