Does anyone know what size rearend and gear ratio was typically found in a 1968 Wildcat?

9 3/8” 67-70 Buick. They are not reproduced. For a non GS Riv the standard 68 ratio was 3.07. A Wildcat is the same. Other ratios were optional so the only for sure way to know is to look at the gear set. The relative tooth count is engraved into ring gear.

Per my Svc Manual, a 68 Wildcat rear end, stamped OE, will be a 2.93 rear.

Thanks guys! I got a 3.08 posi in my 69 Riv now but was possibly going to get a spare rear gear and carrier set and want to make sure its atleast a 3.07, 3.08 or a 3.42 posi. The donor car would be a 68 Wildcat, rear unknown at the moment. I'm just trying to see if it would have what I'm looking for. The 9 3/8 is one bitch of a rear to shop for lol

ALL the full size rear are. Be careful on the 1966 totally different carrier but gears will bolt in the same
1966-1970 are your ring and pinion era. 67-70 would be the posi units to fit. Best to avoid the 66 unless you have time to pen and check the caps IF you need a carrier.

Thanks jim! Would the cowl tag have the info to determine what gear ratio it came from the factory with? Or do you physically have to open it up to see?

BEST way is to open it up.

I recently read that the code on the axle tube will tell what is (or was) in there. Yes you are right that is the 100% way to be sure what it is.
