A.C. is a must for me! If I wanted a really nice RIV, and three were lined up, this one and two that were in need of work but had AC, I'd walk right past this one without looking back. My '72 XGS had air that needed some work; as in about $500.00 worth and I didnt bat an eye. It was in the budget , such as it is. The '64 Special is doomed to get an under dash unit, either period correct or from Classic Air etc. Theres no replacement for displacement, but theres also no excuse to sweat yer ass off either. ws

Sharp car, oddly equipped for a Riv but sharp and clean. I would park it in my garage if I could.
I'm trying to figure out what's going on with that rear bumper, is it bent or just misadjusted?

I like low option GS's (have had 4 w/factory manual steering) because they're so un-Buick like & were seemingly ordered by a select few who knew and ordered for one purpose. I like oddball cars too and a Riv w/o A/C certainly would be that and I'd love to have this one (I actually prefer '66 Rivs) but I think for a Riv. A/C would be preferable. Wifey might even actually ride in it.

My parts car came with hand crank windows and no A/C. It is strange for a Riv to be ordered bare bones. This car looks really clean and at a fair price. The front and rear bumpers on these are very tough to get aligned correctly. Any little tap and its bent.

Dang nice car. After owning my Riv without A/C, I'd never have another one without it. Get the car and add an aftermarket set up for sure.

Curious why you say it is not a real GS. Either way the price is right on target for 68-69 Riv but agree the air is a must. Buckets and console add a bit of value over a bench seat and column shift from my research. Recently purchased a 69 Riv and did a lot of research on pricing before I pulled the trigger.

Curious that it is a non A/C car, but still has the dash vents.

I was wondering since it wasn't advertised as such but being what appears to be such an original car figured it was - Usually I copy/paste the ad title in a "lead" thread but in this case didn't. It even has the chrome air cleaner lid.
For me, buckets/console would be a must so I guess it adds a lot of value. What did you find the ballpark difference to be? How about the difference in value for the GS option? Another Riv is definitely on my bucket (no pun intended) list. Preferably a '66.

He said that he never said in the ad that it was a GS, and the car would be gone by Monday because he was getting a lot of action on it.

I noticed it never said that it was which seemed odd since it sure looked like it was.

almost 90% of the 1968 rivieras had a/c
only 17% came with cruise control and less than 6% of the buyers ordered the optional front disc brakes
    vinyl top: 76.4%

My car was ordered well optioned. A/C, PS,PB, Cruise, R Defrost, Power antenna, power bucket seat, console/floor shift , Delco Duplex stereo and Vinyl top but oddly steel wheels with hub caps. Then I had to basterdize it!

the way i look at it the only big thing on GS is 342 posi but i wouldn't want the 342 much happy with 307 308 or what ever they were .

I suspect it had A/C from the factory, with the compressor subsequently removed, because:

    -It has dash vents.
-It has a radiator shroud. My understanding, corroborated by models I have seen, is that that the non A/C cars did not have the shroud but rather a black plastic lip overlying the radiator fan.

Briz, did your non A/C parts car have a shroud?

dashpad looks like new, maybe its a reconditioned replacement that came with the ac vents?
there are manual vent buttons under the dash

but there is also a threaded hole at the end of the alternator support...
from what i remember, non ac cars have an alternator bracket without that hole for the ac bracket

Shroud was gone when I got the car but it did have the same rad support cover as my orange car. Another weird thing is it had a dash vent and it also have a condenser and a drier on the core support. Has a non ac heater box on the fire wall and non a/c controls in the dash. also has floor vents. I bought it from the son of the original owner.
