Getting a killer deal on a pair of 1231786 heads for $75.

Would I be able to use these heads on a later 72-74 455 block?

The heads would need to be rebuilt but are these a decent year for 455 heads?

    Thanks.

    Yes, should be no problem.

70 heads are good, but don't expect them to raise your compression, difference in the chambers is maybe 3cc.

Make sure they are not cracked and remember to use the later gaskets on a rebuild.Bruno.

X2 , don't start jumping up & down until, or if the heads have passed a mag test!

Will do. Shop charges $60 for the mag test.

What do these usually sell for?

I picked mine up for $75. Were the regular heads(not Stage 1).

Heads are the same, just different valves. A lot of guys on here seem to like the aluminum heads for better power off the shelf.

I went cast iron for budgetary reasons I wouldn't expect to pay that much though.

Original S-I heads will give you some power, ported the right way.My just under 3400 pds car,in 1994,at Engleshtown on Buick day ran 9.70 and around 135 MPH,I would have to look at our Newsletter to be sure about the MPH.This with the roller cam that's still in the car now.Bruno.
