I spent a lot of time at this one, it's very nicely done. The sport wheel is a '71+ 15".

Prices are way down this year. There were a lot of disappointed consigners. I spoke to a few owners who lost 20%-50% on their investments. Not a lot of Buicks, but some screaming deals on Chevelles and Mopars. I won't be selling anything in this market.

He was actually thinking about selling this car before redoing it.. Just because of the market now.. At the time he already had the engine built, bumpers and the car was clean but stripped and nothing done.. We pretty much figuered he would of lost about 4000.00 selling it the way it was. We really did our research and decided we could still make money even if the market was down a bit.. It was just to nice to sit around and get rusty somewhere..Besides he was getting burnt out on chevelles and impalas..

I do have to say I have never seen a more excided body man..Works 60-80 hour weeks all the time.. Truely loves convertibles.. Had one or two his whole life..And Truley loves working on classic cars..He always tells people that when its time to retire, they will have to drag him out of his shop Kicking and screaming..I believe it..Him and his son both..

He really enjoyed building this one.. Everytime he found something different about it he would call me and say "Did you know that........." or " Wow are buicks unique."

Hope others fall in Love with it also.. Atleast two bidders anyway....

    Thanks Donny!! Randy

    Hey Randy,

Is that the original color combination (red/black/white)? Nice car! I hope you get a good return on it.

    Best Wishes,

The top was gone.. You could either go with white or black top.. We looked at the white but the interior color was Pearl, It just didn't look right with a white top so we went with the black.. It has the pearl boot so it still looks right when the top is down, tough when the top is up..Kind of like a Mullet, Buisiness on the Top party in the back..:beers2:

Yeah, I noticed that there's an "A" on the trim tag and the promo sign says original black top car. I agree that the black works better on this one than white would have.

Over the last 16 years I've come close to selling my low mileage GS400 convertible sevaral times. Glad I held on.

The stars are in alignment today. Chamber of commerce weather - crystal clear, temp in the high 70's and low humidity. There's about twice as many people here today as Thursday and Friday. People are paying for high quality and rarity and this is a prime example. Glad to see it.

Randy - If this was your car, congratulations.

Just got off the phone with him.. His sons car was first and pushed his up also.. Patrick (from patricks classy cars) says that they give him lower numbers because his cars start all the big number bidding.. He told BJ that also..What a charicter...

    He is just speachless....

Great price The car looked beautiful on TV. The Olds wasn't too shaby either:TU: They did say over restored but who cares!! Just a question I am sure Alan W will answer tomorrow but, did the 69 convert's come with a bucket seat combo? (4pd or Automatic)Wow what a price! Good to see. I just heard that Marks 65? sold for $38K. Someone got a bargain.

    Hello all,

Watching the BJ auction today. The 1969 Skylark GS400 4-speed convertible sold for $125,000. That's a healthy price! Need to see more Buicks sell in the price range that other musclecars of that vintage and rarity(especially if it's a bonafide Stage 1) are being sold for.

    Take care,

    Nando.

    GULP !!!!!

I think I need to speak with my insurance Co. :Dou:

....Surely mine isn't ANYWHERE near as nice but HOLY COW !!!

Yes Phil, Buckets could be ordered with any combo you wished

Phil you could get buckets with a 4-speed or auto in a 69 vert. I believe there were even a few bucket seat column shift auto verts that were made as well.
It was kind of funny when the GS came out the BJ announcers were sort of quite, talking about other things besides the car. Probably because they didn't know much about the stepchild cars. I watched them pick apart every car the entire day, pointing out every little detail that wasn't correct but when the Buick came out...........crickets......
