Hey guys, I have a 72 Buick skylark custom with factory ac and the wiring harness and gauges in the car are the 1972 originals the speedometer and and harness itself has probably seen better days. The fuel gauge is like brand new. I recently picked up a complete 1970 gauge cluster, dash bezel, and the complete wiring harness to go with it including the fuse block. This 1970 guage cluster also has factory ac. They are like brand new, my question is do the 1970 and 1972 dash harnesses interchange with eachother? Because if they do I will swap them out and re wire the dash using the 1970 harness and gauges. Any and all help is welcome
The wiring diagrams don't indicate much difference as noted here: http://www.v8buick.com/index.php?threads/1970-71-72-wiring-diagrams-easy-to-read-poster-size.282873/ Just some additional wires for the seat belt wrnjng system in '72 that a '70 wouldn't have.
No, no , no. They are different. You will run into issues. The engine harness plug in may not even match although it attaches. You will be chasing your tail wondering why something doesn’t work and remember this thread. Spend the money and buy a new one for your year.
