    Ken,
Put me down for two if not inconvenient. My guess is these things may have been removed or easily fallen off. Spring tension might have been affected by rust, coolant or possibly battery fumes?

EDIT: Upon seeing the on-line listing I stumbled acrosss something else I needed. Called them to place an order. Currently no stock on the clips, dis-continued by GM. Called two local dealers & another AC Delco vendor. No stock anywhere.
GM #328281 is still valid number. Check locally & you might get lucky.
I'd like one if anyone can source them.

    Steve,

Where did you get that part number (328281)? Are you sure that is the same part we are talking about?

    Mike,
I asked Ground Up Resto for the original # once they advised it was discontinued by GM. This does not appear in my GM Buick A-Body parts book. Only reference to this clip was for '64-66.
    Gr.1.240 # NLA /Sup 580659 for '64 & '65
    Gr.1.240 # 570204/Sup 1351261 for '66.

I need to replace one front shock mounting nut. The coil spring "mechanic"
broke one off the car last Summer. These folks have a set of 4 nuts & bolts for about $6-7.00 US. First place I'd seen that had them.

I can get 8 of the "328281" clips at $5.90 each plus shipping to me. I am just a little uncomfortable ordering $50 worth of parts sight unseen.

Is it worth the gamble? I only want 2 for myself.

    Mike,
Ground Up seems to be Chevy only. Possible they had a listing & Buick did not, for some reason. I'll take two if you can get them. Right or wrong I'll still take them.
Can you call & confirm the number they gave me?

    Steve,

They verified part number "328281" but I did not have them try and cross it to the other numbers listed here. Their system shows 8 in stock but they have not done an actual check to see if they are there (PC total could be wrong).

I wish I could get one in my hand to see if they are correct before wasting the $6 on the wrong part :(

Might just have to roll the dice on this one :pp

    Mike,

I'll take a chance on two....
Put me in line if you're going to order some. Mine is rusty and I have another car to do.

    Let me know.

    Thanks

I did a little research on the "328281" part number that "Ground up" gave to Steve.

My dealer parts book shows part number 328281 in group 9.196. That group is in the AC section. It also does not show it being used on Buicks, only Chevy,Olds and Pontiac.... I am not so sure that this is the clip that we are looking for

Steve, here is what I found with the other numbers you listed, all of them did not appear in group 1.240 in my book :Do No:

580659 is in group 1.240 (Cooling section) and it was discontinued in 1977.

570204 and 1351261 are in group 2.559 (clip-strap, wiring harness).

So, I am not sure if the 8 pieces of "328281" that I found are worth taking a risk on? What do you guys think?

I did go to Ground Up personally and can confirm what everybody already knows- Discontinued by GM. The counter person said they were just discontinued. I can put an email into a parts guy in Ohio that does a ton of mail order business and makes his living combing for parts from other dealers. He works out of an Olds dealership. It sure would be nice if someone could find one locally and confirm they will fit (or not fit) our cars first.
