Many of you are familiar with this car from a couple of years ago when I bought it from Mike Nielsen. It was also discussed when I took it to Mecum in Phoenix a few weeks ago. Link attached: https://www.mecum.com/lots/AZ0319-366575/1970-buick-gs-stage-1/It did not sell for what I was willing to net, so before I go anywhere else, I thought I should offer it here for members to consider. Since getting it from Mike, I have spent quite a bit on it to prepare it for cruising in Arizona. New radial tires, new exhaust, and some serious detailing have made it a joy to drive, and always gets lots of compliments at cruise nights. It runs cool even in hot Arizona weather. Mike built a great engine that runs as well or better than any Stage 1 I have ever had, and it drives even better. That is, as long as you are OK with no power brakes or steering. I happen to think it's great that way. It has a '71 correct casting 455, but assume that no numbers are matching, and I believe it is priced accordingly. I hope this first post of pictures ever works. That is a very clean car. Can you see the transmission tag ? Passengers side , it will be stamped with 2 letters.

I looked at it many times when Mike had it for sale. You want a race car in trade?

Thanks guys. I can't use a trade, as the only reason I'm selling is that I'm out of room. If I move a few cars around, I could get it on the lift to see the trans code. That will take some time I don't have right now.

    There isn't a tag on a 4speed that I'm aware of

    Scott,

This car is a 4 speed so no tag on the passenger side. Also, from what I remember it is not the original M21 trans. Hope that helps.

There is a small metal tag attached to the side cover, originallyused to help identify the transmission. For 1970,The was WB for M20,and KA for M21.
I am perfectly fine with manual brakes and manual steering. All of my cars are like that.

I think I'm in love. If I sold both of my cars I'd be somewhat close...

Where in AZ, and would you consider this car in as built new in options? Is it a posi and what M20 or 21? Miles on the chassis? How many since restoration? Quality of paint and body would you say 1-10? Everything work as it should.....sorry for so many Q's but I'm really interested and I'm moving to AZ this summer and could join my collection as I sold a 70 Z28 and may have room.....She sure is pretty!

Thanks for your interest. Here are answers to the questions I can answer as I understand them:

    The car is in Scottsdale.
Based on the GS Historic report, I had the posted repop window sticker made, so that's how it was built.
The report shows it was built with a painted top, which is now vinyl.
Options added include tilt steering column and the "hens teeth rare" passenger side mirror.
Options swapped, the 8 track was installed instead of a consolette. I have no 8 track tapes, so not sure if it works as it should.
Miles showing on ODO, 69,907, but the speedo with over 100k was replaced during resto with a mint used unit. I would estimate no more than 2000 miles since the resto.
12 bolt posi with 3.55 gears.
    1970 M21 trans
I can't get at the trans to see the stamping, but since it's not the original trans, what's the difference? If I hear back from Mike Nielsen, I'll update.
Quality of the paint is what I would call a 7.5 or 8, but I'm picky. There are minor specs in the paint, to be expected on a car that's been driven. The metallic is consistent, with no "tiger striping" or light areas.
Everything works as it should as far as starting, running & driving. I honestly have never turned on the radio, because I'd rather listen to the awesome exhaust note.

If you're a purist, this is not the car for you. If you want a very shiny, straight car that runs great, and will never let you down, then you will love this car.

I appreciate the quick and courteous response. I like Stock appearing as this car is, just wondering what has been added was all, it helps with value to me. I really love the car and I think the vinyl top was a plus side addition. Do you have the shorty console and consolette pieces to go with the car? And 1 more Q, can you confirm any of the engine components such as cam used, pistons, sizes and Stage 1 heads?

No problem. I want any potential buyers to know all the facts, so that this car exceeds expectations, rather than disappoints upon arrival to its new home. I will try to find the engine specs, but it was done when I bought it. Suffice it to say that it has a Stage 1 + cam that has a wonderful lope to it. Whether the valves were enlarged during the rebuild, I don't know. Since it is not the original engine, it doesn't matter to me, as long as it runs like a Stage 1 should, and it surely does that!
The car never had the shorty console, but I will include the following:
Five G-60 X 15 Goodyear tires as shown in the Mecum listing.
The top section of the consolette, along with the very hard to find shift boot. I do not have the bottom or brackets.

When was the last time anything similar to this was available at anywhere near $40,000? Let's face it, solid, straight, four speed cars that don't need to be restored do not come up every week. For all those who have been "looking" for one, this is a chance you will regret passing up.
