Hello I've been looking for the proper way to install this front bench seat I have for a recently purchased 70 skylark. The car had Cadillac Escalade seats rigged in I have removed them and the bench I have does it just bolt down to the floor pan or do I need other hardware to make it work? I'd appreciate any help thanks for some reason I can't upload pictures of what I have

Have a 72 skylark, and the front bench seat also bolts right in with 4 bolts.
Nice and simple, old school stuff!

Wanted to pick up on this thread because I recently replaced floor pans in my '66 Skylark and I need to install the bench seat.
Do the seats bolt through the floor only or a cross member?
The seat I removed was not original to the car and I didn't take pictures of the underside of the car before removing it. I'm a little concerned about the re-installation. It seems that bolting through the floor pan only would increase the risk of the seat pulling free of the floor should the car get hit from the front or rear. I'm thinking about using 3" diameter metal plates on the underside of the car and bolting through those. The increased surface area should prevent the seats from pulling free.
    Any thoughts or suggestions?

There were fiberglass repairs to my floor pans('70 Skylark Custom convertible w/power bench) and in the process they trashed the brackets. I ended up buying these:

They look different than than the factory brackets but on test fitting everything lined up correctly. I'm having metal put back in the floor pans and these will be welded back in the correct spots.

The bench seats come with 2 rails, these will bolt on to the floor and the seat will bolt on to the rails,so that the seat will go back and forth.I just have one set of those brackets, with the long thin wire to pull it out of the lock. They look the same as the ones for the bucket seats, but they are different. For the buckets you will need 4 rails,2 for each bucket ,for the bench you will need only 2 rails.Bruno.
