I have been looking at factory rally wheels 5*5 for the full size cars, but are they wider then the stock steel rims? I am looking for more meat to grip the road, and these stock steels aren't going to cut it when I drop my other 455 in. Suggestions and 'tried that' comments welcome :3gears:

Buick offered the 15" Rally (aka the "Road Wheel") from 1963 until 1991 or so. During that time, the wheel's construction, offset and dimensions varied slightly through the years. Most of the 15" Buick Rally's are 6" wide, but they did make some 7" wheels. I believe that the 7" width wheels were found only on cars factory equipped with disc brakes up front. They're a bit harder to find though.. Pretty sure they came on cars from the mid 70's up through the late 80's. Hope this helps a bit.

And of course, there's plenty of aftermarket options for custom wheels, etc but I'm not sure how much room you'll have in the rear considering the wheel arches and skirts come down so low on the Electra's.

The 7" wide wheels were usually found on the full size 'Estate Wagons' with the chrome wheel option. :TU:

Or, build your own 17"x8" versions. Drawing attached. Callouts on drawing are slightly off in relation to parts list legend (Items 2 and 3 out of order). Starting at upper left on drawing and going clockwise, should be 2, 1, 1, 3. I've got a detailed write-up of build process, but it's too large (623 Kb) to post as an attachment. Message me with an email address and I can send it directly to you.
