Nice car. Looks like a nice show. Are there recurring shows like this in Pinellas County? I'll be there soon for the winter.

There are shows about every day of the week down here from October to May

Where can I find out where and when? I went to the weekly one at Quaker State & Lube once, Capitol Theater yearly one the last four years, and John Chestnut Park yearly one the last two years. That is all I know about.

They have a guide available at the Quaker shows for all of Florida, and it’s full of them

Love the color! Those aren’t factory valve covers are they?

They appear to be OEM (or re-popped) 455 covers with the filler to the front and PCV grommet in the back. I have a new re-popped set and they required a thicker gasket. I picked up a nice used set and it fits like a GM product.

Where in Wisconsin you from??? ws

I am learning a lot and this site has been fantastic. Is the spoiler a big no no on the verts? I kind of look at it as a nice Day two restoration

LOL! I think with that metallic plum, that spoiler is a nice addition. Id rather see a white interior! Its all a matter of taste. Those spoilers were really only for that 1970-72 aesthetic appeal as these cars really never did 200mph where the air pressure changes to down draft, but they look cool, and if you like them, go for it. I am glad chevelles never had them. The stoopid moper things were just that as well; stoopid. ws

Spoiler was spefically spelled out by Buick not available on convertible. It was available on any 71-72 GS hardtop but in 70 was only available on a GSX. Depends on whether you want to be factory correct but it does not fit body lines of convertible correctly.

I understand yer point perfectly Dave, but barring fitment issues or correctness from a judging POV, I think it looks OK on this car. I do see the wide gap on the sides, but couldn't a little removal off the mounting column bases close that up? If that were a "JUDGE" spoiler I'd hafta say no way but it is rather Buick-ish. I sure wouldn't splash a bucket full of gas inside it "spefically" for being incorrect LOL...

Things that get my goat are the crooked EXPENSIVE big car convex side mirror(s) and horns on the wrong side of the car IN FRONT of the core support, but heck, its still a nice ride and I'm sure the owner feels proud of it! Stage II and all! ws

Did anyone notice the Skylark grill?

Wasnt sure if that was a custom grill or not. Hmmm... Not quite as obvious as the BUICK GS 455 on the dash above the glove box door... ws

With most everyone here having such eagle eyes I always hesitate joining this type of thread where the cars are picked apart. I’d hate to see how my car would fare! I look at it as it’s their car, they can do what they want to do or are able to do. Parts availability, cost, and taste all factor in. I think it’s great that members can be counted on for such details and information. Now, having said that...

Is that a Skylark grill or just oddly painted? Nonstandard radiator, no hose hook, painted front spoiler, chromed master cylinder, passenger side remotely operated mirror (I’ve never seen one, rare?), and Buick mudflaps. Whoo! That felt good! Still, it’s a gorgeous car. And I like the spoiler.
