Jim, looks great!!! This is labor of love!!! Seeing your super progress brings me back to when I started the frame off restoration on my 68 Corvette. BTW does anyone know if Dave has released the reproduction correct 4-Speed shifter hand for the 70-72 GSs? AL.

Last time I spoke with Dave he said that he was close to finishing it, and that was a few months ago.

Here are the trans and carb parts after the fact

A commercial grade plating has now been applied to the before parts depicted above.

Who did the plating? I need to get some of my stuff plated and that looks real good. Little things like that make a big difference, kind of seperates the men from the boys. What the hell its only money.

A company in Raleigh named Surtronics did it but it is all in the prep which I did. So, I would not be too concerned about the shop. It is the cleaning, sanding, bead blasting and the quality of the cores that count. In fact, this shop will not even take the parts unless they are spotless.

Thanks Jim, I'll try to look them up tomorrow. That kind of detailing to me really makes a big difference.

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at how inexpensive it is. Like Jim said, its all in the prep work, plating hides nothing.

Jim, the shift indicator (neutral safety) linkages running up to the steering column are supposed to be gold cad? I've only ever seen black leftovers on original pieces?

I have made many posts for info on this issue. So far it is my understanding that Dave Kleiner plates those. My understanding of the owner of the Unseen Gsx's ( 46K original miles) response is there was evidence of the plating on his. At least two others responded that did not have such evidence --perhaps because of rust or perhaps it never was there. So when in doubt plate as you can always change it later if the weigh of the evidence goes the other way.

Thanks Jim, just curious. I plated mine too actually, but assumed that was incorrect (I'm not doing concours and plated parts just look better than painted).

I think the jury may still be out on the correct finish but since I hope I am through with the gold cad plating I did it to be safe. I agree it looks better.
