Didn't a boardmember here just sell this car in the low $20k's? http://atlanta.craigslist.org/ctd/853686845.html
I'm not sure if this is the one...sure looks like though. I'm don't remember the previous owner mentioning having a protect plate. Try finding a matching numbers four speed with documentation and protecto plate for less. You will be searching along time, and may not ever find one. I know I would be taking a huge hit in the back pocket if I sold mine for anything near that. I think the board member here was "demon340" or something to that effect. Heck of a good guy, I talked to him on several occasions. He found a V code road runnner. Being a Mopar man. he decided to put the car up for sale after having it only a few months.
I guess I'm just mad that I didn't buy it before the current owner, and try to double my money. For that kind of $$$, I'd rather have a driver quality X like some of the ones that have been for sale this year.
The key word here is "try". The seller can put any price he wants on it. It doesnt mean its worth that much. Take for example that gold metalflake 70 GS 455 4 speed thats 39k on Ebay. Its been on Ebay for what now, a year? I forget what he started asking, but it was obscene. The economy sucks, and were headed into the holidays. The market is flooded with nice cars right now. He would be better off to wait until tax return season this spring. He might have a chance then if the market rebounds. That being said, it seems to be a nice car. I love the 10-10 paint and black interior. You couldnt get a better car to do a GSX conversion on
That is this car?? Those are some pretty revealing pictures as compared to the CL photos. Definitely an "optimistic" price.
Yes this is the former board members car. That is the photo album he established when he decided to sell that car. I agree It will be for sale for a long time, if at all for that price. I don't believe it had the original carb or distributor either. As I remember he paid well under 20 for it. I know when he bought it it was a screaming deal.
Jim, your car is in a different league :bglasses: Here's the prior thread... http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=159838
So it appears that he paid $21k for it last month and is now asking $50k in the exact condition??? What could he possibly be thinking?
Methinks he forgot to wear his helmet on the short bus this week....I wish him well, though. Maybe Crashklein will buy it, and offer it next year for 100K....Dan
Exactly what I was thinking when I posted this. I guess my version was a little more sugar coated. FWIW, I would love to have the car. Probably have to sell everything I have to be able to buy it, though...:ball:
Don't buy a shabby car on ebay if there are other good ones here for less. I'd part with my 70GS Stage1 for the right price, $40K or there abouts. It's fully gone through, new paint, top, etc. Don't buy a car that needs work if you can find one that doesn't. It's a simple lesson I've learned time and time again. While it seems attractive to buy a fix up car, you'll spend twice what you expect to fix it up. I'll stop here. Long time car fans would agree with me.
While I agree with most everyone about the pricing/flipping issues, this GS was built for one purpose ... no power options what-so-ever. The original owner must have had a singular purpose, for sure. You just don't see many ultra-spartan GS's like this one. Talk about carrying a BIG stick ...
I consider my car as having few creature comforts, but yours is real bare bones. Standard interior too if I recall? Perfect drag car! I saw your car in person at the Rochester BCA nats. Was that 05? Awesome car. The blue with the blue interior is striking. It looks like mine is optioned pretty close to the white one.
I know when I had mine posted on here for sale, seems that everyone that I talked to was only interested in flipping the car. I guess the profit margin wasn't there, because I still have it. I figure with the market the way it is right now, there is no point in even offering it for sale. That just means that it'll take longer to complete my other '70 stg-1 4-speed project, then it'll be on to the convertable! :Smarty:
