I want a numbers match 70 stage convert. Prefer a 4spd but would by a console auto. Looking for a real good car. I am willing to pay 175,000.00+ for the right car. SERIOUS! Will pay a 10% finders fee resulting in purchase. thanks

Do you have a typo in there????

I think you meant 71 stage 1 conv with TH-400, because if so you could have mine for much less. :Brow:

Marco has the only one I know of. I'm sure there are much more around, they didn't make very many of those with 4 sp. Marco, you better hide this thread from your wife. :Smarty: :bglasses:

You read it right. One hundred and seventy five thousand dollars. That means I would pay that for the car described ie numbers match,paperwork,4spd a geat car. As an example I would have no interest in a non numbers car or auto on the column car at any where near that price. I used to own the white stage convert that was at Legendary and was recently on Dream Car on Speed tv with the muscle car shootout. That car was numbers match auto originally on the column changed to console. A really good car I sold a year ago august for about 50 thousand has since sold again. That car today I would pay 80 - 100 to get it back. The white car was a Good car I am looking at this time for a Great car. I have floated this offer around for about six months and have yet to have ANYONE respond with ANY stage convert.

    Fred -

There aren't too many owners on this board that own what you're seeking - don't get discouraged. Try advertising to a wider audience, possibly Hemmings or maybe even contact one of the larger auction houses.

Did you buy the white car from Norb?

While this website is great for all things Buick, there are many people who own musclecars that do not go on the internet.

No I sold it to Norb, he lives five miles away. Norb WAS a diehard mopar guy for thirty years HEMI,AAR,DAYTONA owned them all! I sold him the convert and now a GSX. After knowing each other for 30 years he tells me last summer he may have been buying the wrong car for the past 30 years. Most guys I know given a chance to drive a good stage one want one!

My 71GS455 4pd convert undergoing ground up resto?

I also had an email conversation with a guy who has another limemist 71GS455 4spd convert num match, his dad was a dealer and they got it on a trade in in the mid 70s. All orig. Alabama or Louisiana, I forget. Let me know if interested.

I know of two 71GS455 4spd num match cars, mine and this other one out of 18 made.

Only Stage1 71 Convert 4spd (of 9) I know of was written up in The Build Sheet. Kyle Price from Maine. I missed the car at Salem but evidently it was there.

    In 71 you're talking rare birds. 9 stage1s and 18 GS455s with the 4spds.

    Wow Mike you are right....

I forgot that Kyles 71 was a 4 speed. :Dou: I spent more time looking at his car than any other there, but sadly I forgot to bring a camera to the BPG. :Dou: :Dou: :Dou:

Nice unrestored 71 stage 1 conv 4 speed, limemist with Pearl right... And if I'm not mistaken, N-25 bumper too! I suspect original drive train, but don't remember asking :Do No: :TU: :TU: :TU:

From what I heard, many people were trying to buy it from him, but he wasn't looking to sell. Then again, I'd say it is safe to say, nobody offered 6 figs. Hummmm, could be your best chance. :Do No:

It was great meeting Kyle, he is a super guy. :TU: :bglasses:

The article said it is heritage green now. Are you saying that it was originally limemist? The article infers that it was originally a different color.

It would be interesting if his, mine, and the other one I know that are still numbers matching are all limemist 71GS big block convert 4spds, 3 of 27. Where are the other ones that are different colors?

Kyle's GS was originally Fire red (code 75) with a white vinyl top.

Red and white are nice colors. I'll assume it's white top.

I'll have to settle for limemist and green interior with black top.

The other one I was talking about is limemist and white interior and white top. Here's his last note:

Mike, I went back and looked at your car at www.ronrestore.com and saw that yours is lime green. Mine is too, with white guts and top, no GS/X spoiler or stripes, and no "pushers" on the front bumper. I have ps., pb, air, AM sonomatic (not currently working), roll up windows, and 100% original interior with exception of Hurst T-handle, and some mechanical oil and temp gauges hanging under the center of the dash in front of the shifter (kept old round black shift knob and orig. sending units, of course). Also have plain drivers side chrome mirror like yours, instead of sport mirrors like most GSs that I've seen. Do you have original white center caps? -- I couldn't tell from the pictures.

I am after a 70 4spd, may take an auto. I am aware of the 72. It has been for sale for quite a while if that car was a 70 I would own it, but then they would be asking twice the money, which is about were I am at. Thanks for the response. Got a lead today!

What ever happened to Doug Durkee's car? It was for sale at one time and it's a 4-sp.

Are you talking about the Fire Red car? It sold. Just a wonderful car to look at.

Yes, it's a great looking car!!! Saw it at the GS Nats for several years. Where did it go? Who owns it? Is it a board member? Is it on Marco's Stage1 Registry? :Do No:

Sold a couple of years ago and just recently again. Great car. This car had it all except original motor. I may regret not purchasing this car if I am unable to find a numbers match stick.

I understood the numbers were not matching on the red car which gives me hope for Mark Reeves' GSX at BJ Scottsdale. If that car goes big it could boost the Buick market as it too is a beautiful non matching numbers car. On the other hand if it flops .......

I'm worried as many of the attendees can buy anything . They may just decide they are not going to pay big money for a non matching numbers car. His best customer will be a non Buick person that just digs its looks.

I would hope that with all the good things said recently about Buicks being a great investment and bargain priced by Craig Jackson and other "market experts" that would be a good deal of hype placed on this car by the auctioneers!
