Guys I'm going to buy a 1970 Buick GS but I'm not sure about a few things

The car is supposed to have a 455 BB engine, I checked it and it has a quadrajet carburetor and factory chrome valve covers but the engine doesn't looks so big like other BB's (like mopar ones), I forgot to inspect the engine identification number but I'll do it this weeked

But my biggest concern is about is just a GS or is a GS Stage 1 (I'm pending to check the VIN to see if it's really a GS), the car has manual 4 speed transmission, center console, power windows, power brakes, power steering and I think it has power locks and used to have tachometer in dash (right now is missing :( ), the original air cleaner with ram air is missing so I don't know where to look just to be sure if is a Stage 1 or isn't

    Good news

I confirmed that my new beauty is a Stage 1 :D

The bad news is that she needs a lot of work and love, but I'll do my best to bring her back to the street

The VIN has to start with 44637. That confirms it is a GS455 hardtop. The engine code will be SS. You can send the complete VIN number to one of 2 sources that will tell you how the car was originally built. Depending on the last 6 digits of the VIN, that will either be the Sloan Museum in Flint MI, or Wayne Roberts here on the V8 board. There are 2 rolls of microfilm that detailed all the 70 cars built. The Sloan has one, Wayne has the other. Not sure on this exactly, but I think the cut off is 198000. Below that is Sloan, above it is Wayne.
