Interesting! I noticed the body number on this car was 002057, and the trim tag matches the documentation. The body was built the last week of May 1970, and car was invoiced 2 or so weeks later. Body numbers by that time were well over the 250000 mark. Typically such low body numbers (at least on Flint built cars) were indicative of SCO cars. There could be something special (other than being a Stage 1 convertible) about this car, but I sure can't tell by the photos. I also notice the H70-14 Polyglas tires. Larger than the G70-14s that were an option. That size is not available repop, they must have been installed way back. I am really beginning to like that color. p Jim J.
Wow!!!! I want to find a barn with one of those in it..... Is that Havest Gold with a Pearl white interrior? Lon
Now there is a perfect example of a car that other than some minor appearance items, (carpet) and mechanical work to get it roadworthy again, should be left as is and not restored. At least that's what I would do.
I wish I was in on this one. I wonder if Mike S is in. sorry to the purists out there but the car has been repainted and the passenger fender looks to be a "bad NOS" one. It deserves a total resto. If I could sell the Suncoupe in time I would be a bidder
To be really nice, that car needs as much work as some that look much worse. Question: would it harm the value if it were to be painted a different color?
O.K.I'll have to ask, what does the Buick community here forcast this one being worth if it were all frame off restored???? Just not to convinced six figures, look what happened with the red show car,and not saying it in a bad way. Def a real nice car to have anyway. But for me,I'd still rather have a 70 X instead of this.
Um, what ou: ? There were only 64 Big block convertibles in code 58 built at flint. That includes 455 and stage 1. Only 1 is currently in the registry. Autumn gold in fresh metallic paint is very beautiful. And does very well on Chevelles.I certainly hope the next owner has enough respect to restore it as original. There are several red stage one convertibles for sale currently. If someone wants a red car go buy one of those. It was really refreshing to see the triple green atage car at the nationals. I for one am tired of going to a show and every car is painted re sell red. Variety isn't a bad thing, and much more interesting. regards, DL
Ive owned 3 70 GS 455 non stage Converts, and my buddy had one too..all 4 where Harvest Gold with sandalwood,i had a 70GS 455 hardtop and it was too......pretty much optioned just like this car except this is a stage car...must have been a very popular color combo in 70..all where out of St Louis in the early 90s where i grew up..i dont know which plant..it didnt matter then...they where cars
