Hey guys- I have a 72 skylark with a 71 455 stage 1 transplant. It has stock exhaust manifolds to a 2.5" Dynomax system (with H pipe). mufflers- Dynomax ultraflo welded.

question- I tried the Turbo, Dynomax turbo and settled on these. Sounds great at idle and slow cruising..Nice muscle car rumble. But when I give it some go it just sounds like a mass amount of air moving /droning. I don't hear the nice muscle car rumble on revs or WOT. just a loud humming. I know the 455 fan really makes some noise but its bothering me.

    What's your experience?

I am only giving you my 1 cent worth. I have a couple of these systems on my cars. I don't have any sort of cross-over on my cars. That may explain some of it. I also have higher compression than stock. And I have a fair amount of time in tuning of my cars. All of those in my experience make a difference. And the tone of one engine can be great for some and horrible for others. Personal taste is what that's about.

    Induction noise?

I replaced the stock air cleaner on the Electra with a 14 x 3 round filter and noticed a big increase in induction roar when giving it some right foot. It has a stock single exhaust so not much competing sound from out back.

That could be yeah induction/engine dan roaring. I do know it has a little edelbrock triangle air cleaner on it but I have a round one chrome coming with the 455-4 stamped on it
