Need 71 Skylark GS auto floor shifter frame dont need horseshoe or handle only the frame that attaches to floor

I have a 73 console and shifter. You know how I can get this to work in a 71. It's not going to be a car judged for originality. I wonder if I can trim high side of console base to match low side so console sits level then still use my 73 shifter.
Mark,a friend of mine has the 73 shifter into a 70 GS console,The console's for 70-72 are the same as 73,73's are a few inches taller. In His car you can see the shifter is taller then the 70-72,but he does not care.You might be able to cut the shifter about one inch on each side,but if you don;'t mind about originality,as is is fine.Bruno.
You can trim the console body to fit the 70-72 floor contour. I can give you measurements or make a simple template for you if you need. I think you may need to shim the shifter mount, but, I'm not sure. Here is a link to Georges website - http://www.buickperformanceclub.com/page1.htm
Matt he just needs the 70 shifter ,not the console.By the way,I done that years ago,cutting the 73 with a template,that's why I have 3 73 shifters and no consoles.And I also have 5 shifters for the GN.Bruno.
