‘Ran when parked’. ‘All glass is good’. ‘Just needs radiator/alternator/starter’.

The glass thing always gets me, I mean what if it isn't good in these people's experience does broken glass mean it's not worth fooling with??? Ha, when and if I retire and if something like Craigslist exists, I'm going to spend my final years aggravating the hell out of these yahoos

I was going to look at that car last month but I never had the time to go around and see it. It's a 40-minute drive for me

Exactly. So, the son passed away or the family passed away and the estate had to clean up, finally. This scenario has happened to me many times.

The passive-aggressiveness of owning a car that other's want and at least not having a civil conversation with the interested party has always really bothered me. There is a local yard, a guy that has collected cars in Newton, Iowa for 45 years. Mostly older Cadillacs and Buicks, not GS muscle stuff. But he allowed them all to rot, all have lichen on them from sitting so long.

I went by and with the owner looked around. I saw a 1961 Cadillac Fleetwood, which is their high end 4 door model for most years. When parked 25 years ago, I am telling you this car would have only needed mechanical repair and it would have been pristine. Left to rot, it needs interior, full mechanical restoration, and of course body and chrome, some glass. Fleetwood interiors would need hand stitched from SMS fabric, mechanical restoration at least $12,000. Total, about $45,000 for a $20,000 car.

But I liked it, so I offered $600. At least twice maybe more of scrap. The next thing I see is the Fleetwood on Craigs List for $2000. And the comment "and no Brian we are not going to sell you the car for $600". Passive-aggressive 101. He has something I want, so nah nah nah nah.

And there it sits, as this GS did, for years. And none of us know what the GS sold for. None of the forum folks got it, apparently. The extraction process had to be painful, frozen drums, discs, floor to the ground....

I have bought a lot worse for more money. These cars up here in New York are hard to find. No matter of condition. It was a bucket seat, console car by the ID tag. Had 15" rally wheels, etc. Who knows what else? I think it had a lot of hard to find parts on it and the only way to buy a project car is complete. I tried to get the car but somebody else was in front of me and wound up buying it. I would have paid the $2000 for it and winched it up on my trailer, locked up wheels or not and been gone. Oh well, still looking for a big block car like it on this side of the world to restore or use as a parts car on a solid shell......I am sure that a member ended up with it. We will all know soon enough

I hoped they would have, i figured it as parts for someone, probably not a restore. I would had gone the day I found it, but couldn't get off work
