Hi guys, I have a 71 gs 350 convertible, what are they worth fully restored, at best?...I'm thinking of changing the original color of bittersweet mist to something that has more "pop." Perhaps a bright version of an orange with some pearl to liven up the color. Will this significantly reduce the value?
If you want value out of your car keep it looking the way it left the dealership. If it was anything but a Buick I think you could get away with this. Buick guys seem like more of the purist than just flashy colors. Then again I'm an older fellow, and I could be wrong.
Bittersweet Mist is a great color. I wouldn't change it. The color pops when freshly applied. Don't go by whatever was left on the car. If the car was pea green, you could probably make a compelling argument for changing it.
That is a great color when freshened up I would not change the color I wish my 71 GS 350 convertible was that color.what color interior does your car have ? How long have you owned your GS there was one that just sold in your color from North Jersey ? As far as value I just asked that question on my thread hopefully will get answer soon

Beautiful color combination I'm assuming it's a bench Seat car bucket seats were special order they didn't build many of them unfortunately .
Best to go with factory color. Wierd colors may appeal to you but scare off buyers.Full resto 350 cars rarly bring over 30k.I will be selling one bittermist car at this coming Barret Jackson so we will see current market price.
Tangelo is played out big time, burgundy mist over white is beautiful, a more modern Orange like Atomic or the new C7 Orange would be nice,..but please no tangelo , just won't fit the lines of the car
This is a factory 72 color. Not sure of the name right now. It could be Bittersweet. Trying to get this finished... been sitting way to long.
Which auction? I looked but couldn't find it. Saw a Cortez Gold '71 Stage 1 in the Palm Springs auction that's seemingly a Zone Demo Car, but the description makes no mention of that. Looks like maybe the one that was for sale in NJ?
I say make the car the way you like it. unless its a quick flip, I don't worry about the cars value, I make it the way I like it. If I ever sell her, which I never will, the next owner can make it the way they like it.
I agree on a GS. You may never intend to sell, but (ask how I know) you never know and an off-color is limiting. That's what makes building a Skylark FUN! Make it what YOU want! Along the same lines as what makes a NOM GS fun - build a stout drivetrain & run it!
