I received an email about Bob and his brother. They were Pontiac LeMans and GTO racers when they purchased the car that I am looking for. They also purchased a 71 GS 455 streetcar at the same time.
    Thanks, John

OK, I found your car. Ironically, its not too far from me.

Bad news- Bob passed away last week. Although I think his brother actually owns the car. Call me for the details. Ill PM you my number

I sure hope you plan to leave the family alone at this time.
Anything else would be completely disrespectful.

Jason said that he would give the family three to four weeks before he contacts them about the car. I am sure that these brothers were very close, since they shared a passion about their cars!!!
    Thanks, John

I think Jason should back off.
It was disrespectful putting other peoples lives on internet.
    Its no ones business.

I know you miss your car. Many of us do ones we let go.
    I hope you understand.

Chris, I'm not sure how I'm being disrespectful? I merely said the the guy passed away. And John will attest that I told him that we need to give the family time.

I'll weigh in briefly as a bystander that is monitoring this thread. Posting that someone has passed away is not being disrespectful IMO. We do it all the time regarding the passing of our Buick brethren. And everyone involved has acknowledged that the family should be given time before being contacted. All perfectly normal from my point of view. :)

You could send a pm to John. Not post peoples info here.
They obviously are not in internet community.
They would have given an answer if car was for sale.
I will stand by my comments.

Chris- Please explain...who is "they"?? I haven't approached, visited, tried to call or otherwise contact anyone about it besides John. How could "they" possibly give an answer if I never spoke to anyone?

I have not posted any information, personal or otherwise (which I dont even have) about who owned it besides the name "Bob" and that he passed away.

John and I both agreed that it would be disrespectful to try and make contact at this time.

It sounds to me like Chris knows this family, and if so it is possibly why he feels the way he does.

Since Jason has not contacted the family yet, there is nothing to back off from. All he did was locate the car and learned the current owners Brother recently passed away. Posting that “Bob” passed away is not disrespectful, especially since no one posted the last name or the details of his passing.

He was going to post it. Did not as per John Osbourne, thank you.
He couldve just pmd John about it.
Then was mentioned he would go in 3 or 4 weeks.
So yes I am protective of the family.
    No harm, no foul.
    Thats all.

I was?? When was that?? See post #26 where I said "call me for the details" . Any information beyond the guy's first name was done via PM's. And yes, I said to John we would revisit this in a month. We spoke about maybe stopping by the guy's shop on John's behalf so you got me there.

Chris, I have no dog in this fight. All I did was locate the car for him. Its John's old car, not mine. I have zero interest in it. Its all up to John as to how he wants to proceed. If you perceived anything I did as disrespectful, you have my sincerest apologies. And the last thing I want is a fellow LI Buick guy being pissed at me for something. All I was trying to do is help out a V8Buick member. I throw my hands up in this matter

I do not think your intention was to be disrespectful.
    Are you Excited, yes.
You are trying to help a fellow board member and timing is obviously terrible.
The family needs to be left alone right now.
Thru all the posts Im not going back thru I thought it said contact them in 3-4 weeks.
    Thats all.
I think they should be left alone for now.
Have a good weekend all and keep the stress down. I know its not my business either, but my reaction to their situation. And how I perceive it.
