Ok, I'm getting to the point where I really need to get a driver besides my work truck....and I can't bear to pay the gazillions of dllars for a new car, or even a newer used car. They want to much money in taxes and insurance if I finance it. My old LeSabre 4door sedan worked very well as a daily driver, and I want to enjoy driving a Buick all through the season. I'm a 4-door fan too...makes it much easier to haul lots of people without having to climb over seats and quarter panels:laugh: I'm not going to buy a rust bucket - I want a nice solid driver that I won't be ashamed to be behind the wheel in. I don't want an Electra, I just don't like the rear ends on them...sorry Electra guys!! I don't even know how serious I am about this right now, but I want to see what is available before I make any decisions on whether I should buy or not. Thanks!!!!! (What I really want is my old green machine back...but that won't happen)
Forgot to add... Would like something in my general area...I'm not willing to ship another car from CA againou:
Adam - Although I like the '71 LeSabres ( I got to cruz LA in Ivan's white '71 :bglasses: ), I'd suggest a more modern Buick for day to day use. Especially considering the price of gas these days!! What I would suggest is a Series II SC3800 powered car, such as the '96-'99 Riviera or '98 & up Regal GS/Pontiac GTP. You can pick up a fine example for quite a bit less than $10k. Speaking from the POV of someone that has a '96 Riv - the ride quality, power, creature comforts, and even gas mileage are very good!! :TU: :bglasses: On the highway, I would get over 30mpg with the Riv....around town, high teens/low 20's. And.....not to step on anyone's toes, but the SC3800 Riv's are quicker than all but a few BBB powered Rivs. Ask Larry, he'll vouch for this I'm sure!! :Brow:  This is all just my opinion, but thought I'd share it anyways. :Comp:
I agree Scott... It's really a matter of finding something that I can afford. I had a revelation last night about getting on track to find a LeSabre of this vintage (71), and so I posted this ad. I won't back away from it if it's a good deal - so I'll keep looking. I am laso trying to keepy my eyes peeled for a more modern car like you mentioned. Thanks for your opinion
Adam, There is 74 four door on ebay in the Syracuse, NY area. It is beige and has a 350. Ebay Item#4512907804. $500.00 isn't too bad for a driver.
Appreciate the lead, but I'm pretty picky about the year choice... Prefer a 71, but a 72 is not out of my reach.:TU:
I think looking for a 71-72 is a good idea. Old four door sedans can be had in nice shape cheap. And the big four door sedan is simply an American institution. Plus, no computers, Catalytic converters, hardly any emissions trouble, etc. So good luck Adam! I myself drive an 80 LeSabre daily. While I'd like an emissions exempt car, the 74-80 have an idle test only in PA. So the seventy 350 passes no problem.
I know you don't want to have another shipped but http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6144&item=4536819906&rd=1
But...look at the BE-YOO-TEE-FUL color!!! Green is IN this year, you know :Brow: Not that I'm biased towards green...
That car looks like the Riviera color "Emerald Mist" which was a special order for Centurions. .... A nice candidate for the registry for sure....and very nicely loaded.
Adam, I will keep an eye open for a car here in FL. Lotsa of old folks here with old cars and low miles. You can fly from MN to FL for $150-200 and drive it home. Has to be a LeSabre???
Thanks George.. Doesn't have to be a LeSabre...I would prefer something that is NOT a convertible. Centurion/LeSabre preferred.
Adam, Would you consider another 71-2 GM car such as Olds 88, Pontiac Catalina, Chevy Impala????? Once I know exactly what you want, l can keep an eye open. We have lotsa old people going to nursing homes or passing away so these car appear frequently including garage/estate sales.
