71 Riv 2.93 ratio

1971 Buick Riviera. Was it possible to special order a 2.93 posi when the car was new?

 

2.93 was the standard ratio. They may be thinking a 2.93 non posi was standard and you had to check a box if you wanted a 2.93 posi.

I have found a company that says they have a original 1971 axle with 2.93 ratio in a posi. they say it is an extremely rare option that could be added in 1971. I have never heard or read anything to back this up. my worry is that its just a peg leg 2.93. in truth my hope is it's a 3.42 ratio.

Does anyone have a set of 2.93 or 3.08 gears for the 12 bolt rear from 1971 -1976? 12 bolt cover 12 bolt ring...KNOWN as the Olds 12 bolt.
