Got 72 buick skylark 350 4bbl...just got motor and everything dropped in and running went out for cruise and car felt like i had little to secondaries kicking in felt very under powered after a little was past half throttle. Pulled off air cleaner when i pulled throttle by hand on carb everything works fine. Had somebody press pedal to floor WOT the throttle only opened maybe 3/4 of the way and barely moved the secondaries. Went online to to look for new throttle cable and could only find listings for 68-71 for throttle cables i have a 72. From what i see cable does not look to be adjustable at carb but looking at pedal it is very low to floor and can lift up on pedal from underside a good 1 or 2 inches. Need some help trying to resolve this issue. Is there a way to adjust at pedal maybe. Or which cables would work with my setup?
Yes it was originally had taken it to the shop to had it done few years ago but im guessing it wasnt done correctly
Ta performance and the parts place inc have a 455 accelerator cable. Should work fine. About 40 bucks
I would be skeptical that it would work. The physical engine sizes are different. I know there were 3 different cables for A body cars. 2 for the 350 and one for the 455.
You may be able to modify the cable bracket mounting point (move it back) to get full throttle on the secondaries. You would need to fab up a metal plate.
Push the pedal down ,mark the cable at that length and take out and solder some lead ,big enough to stop the cable at that length .That will shorten it.I'm sure there's other ways to do it,but that's what came into my head. Bruno.
There's 2 different brackets for the 350,that might fix your problem. I think I still have another one of those brackets left.I know the bracket you have is the shorter one.Bruno.
Possibly. This is what the BBB throttle bracket looks like, I think the 2bbl bracket is different, it's shorter front to back.
I just sold one from a GS350,I will let you know a little later if I have the one you want, but I should have it.Bruno.
Someone near me on ebay says they got 4bbl bracket for 350. Looks similar to bracket Larry showed except the lower tang is on front side and closer to carb... gonna go check it out see if it works will let keep you posted
Ok will measure and see does it matter the years in regards to this tho. Because they do repro them but only up to 71 not to 72
If you are interested I do have the 350 4 barrel bracket .If you want it, get in touch with me via a PM.Bruno.
