Hello all. Just came into a CA car Skylark with the 350. What fuel pump does this motor have? I look it up and it looks like there are a few diff ones? Where is the fuel filer on this car? It will run on gas put into carb. Pulled the line at the carb and turned it over and get NO gas comes out at all. I assume it is a bad pump. It was working last fall. It has been sitting since. This car has been in S Cali all of its life, not near the ocean though. I can't imagine it has rust issues or the like that would clog a line?

Fuel filter is at the fuel entrance for a 4bbl car. do not know about the 2bbl but could be in same location. The fuel pump is mechanical.
u need to drain all the fuel from the tank, remove the tank and have it steamed. That way u will know if the tank requires replacement. remove the fuel line from the fuel pump input side. Pass compressed air thru the fuel line to clean it out.

2 barrel has filter in carb also. Where fuel line screws in. With age of car, it could be the rubber lines at pump, middle of frame or by tank have cracked and is sucking air. Or possibly out of gas. But yea probably pump.

Cars with A/C have a vapor return line on the pump. This returns hot fuel and vapor to the gas tank to combat vapor lock. A/C cars are more prone to this as they run hotter. Look at your fuel pump to see if you have 2 or 3 connections and order the appropriate pump.

The fuel filter is inside the carburetor right where the fuel line enters.

Pump is in and car is running like a top. I looked at the lines off pump. I have a line from carb to pump (metal), one from tank to pump, and one from pump that runs to the charcoal canister and one from there to the end of the air cleaner snorkel right at the end of the opening. I am pretty sure I got that right.

To the canister behind rear seat? It should not go to canister in engine compartment

I have two lines going to the canister up front behind drivers headlight, again one going to fuel pump and one going to the end of the snorkel on the air cleaner. I have not looked, didn't know too, for any canister (for the AC?) behind the rear seat as in I need to pull the seat, or behind it under the car?

No, that's wrong. The 1/4 line from the pump goes to the fuel tank, not the front charcoal canister. The charcoal canister should have 2 lines, one from the air cleaner snorkel and one from the tank . (there is another metal canister under the car, near the rear seat area)

I may have looked at it wrong, I did, ha ha. The one hose from canister goes into frame area near drivers wheel, I thought it was just coming back out to the pump when it was going to tank I guess, my bad. How do you know when these canisters are bad?

They don't. Really not that important. It's just for evaporative emissions.
