I haven't been posting, but have been slowly plugging along on the '70 GS. Firewall is painted new booster and master cylinder. Replaced the Gas tank. New Radiator and a million little odds and ends. Core Support is in it and we actually cranked it and moved it around today. We are taking a chance on this motor that hasnt been run in years. Sounds great so far and ran good oil pressure at temperature. Hope to start bolting on some sheet metal soon.

Got most of the front in together and cleaned her up for a few photos. The hood that was damaged bringing the car home should be back from the body shop next weekend.

The '70 took her maiden voyage down the road today. Stayed steady between 185-190 at idle. Ran smooth and quiet. Still waiting on the hood to get back from the body shop. Drove well. Got a few minor bugs to work out, but mechanically is very close.

Got the Bumper off the '72 to send out for N25 holes and rechrome. Got the old exhaust cut out. Also made some progress mocking up the tunnel. Getting closer to welding it in.

As soon as the the tunnel is sorted I can start putting it back together... Finally.

What color codes are both vehicles? Also, who is doing your N-25 cutouts?
Both beautiful cars! Love the color on both!

The '70 is Stratomist Blue '72 is Quasar Blue Metallic. I'm told it's an old Camaro Color. '72 will eventually be Charcoal Mist. Don't want to have clashing blues lol.

Rusty Davenport is doing my bumper. He is a member on the board and a great guy.

The Holiday weekend allowed for a good bit of progress on the '72.

Got the Hotchkis version of the F41 frame stiffening bars installed that came with the car.

Got the tunnel mocked up, fabricated, and welded in! I really stink at mig welding, but I got through it.

Got the intake cleaned up, painted, and installed with new gaskets.

Need to to get the gorilla welds cleaned up this week and then plan to go ahead and get the floor boards and tunnel painted. Motor is out and ready for paint too.

Here I am getting ready to weld....

Got my driveshaft today. This weekend I'm going to seal the floors with the KBS frame coater kit.

    Updates on both cars!

First the '70. New plugs and wires today and got the idle mixture set. A couple of the wires ended up being bad so the tune up REALLY made a difference. Took the car out on a few test runs and it was awesome. Excited that it's getting closer.

The '72 got the floors painted. I used the KBS frame coater system. I highly recommend it. If I had to do it over again I would get satin black instead of gloss. I just didn't realize I had the option until I had placed the order. This picture was actually after the first coat. Looks even better now. I also painted the underside of the new tunnel after this picture too. Putting in the foil backed insulation tomorrow if I can find a little time.

Made a little progress over the weekend.

got some paint on the motor.

then put on the clutch flywheel and pressure plate... Side note, ive used the pilot bearings the last two times I've put a clutch on a car, I won't do it again. Just a PITA.

Then I wrestled the trans in to place.

Got the motor in place, put in the crossmember(got lucky and didn't even have to drill new holes on the frame. Put on the new aluminum driveshaft, put the balancer back on it. Filled the trans with fluid, Filled motor with oil. connected the new speedo while I was under there. finally, I pulled dad off the '70 long enough to help me hang the headers in place.

I pulled the old plugs and put the motor on TDC. Cleaned and the Distributor, Installed the NGk vpower UR5 plugs. Cut the Moroso 8mm plug wires(only spiral core 8mm I could find with black wires AND boots) to length using the factory looms. I don't know if I'll ever use a pre sized set of plug wires again. Put on the Stage 1 Valve Covers and that pimp fill cap. Seriously, that cap is awesome.

To wrap up the weekend, I split the Engine Wiring harness open, removed the entire resistor wire, and installed the hei power wire and Re-wrapped. I bought the one pre made from year one and it wasn't long enough so I extended it to fit.II bolted down the headers, put the fuel pump on and hung the mini starter. Still need to clean the harness up more. But here is where I ended the weekend. I wanted to put the Ps pump in but couldn't find the bolts, so I called it a night.

Still have a ton to do, but I hope I can get it cranked by the weekend.

I got lucky that I had a set that I didn't use on my last Skylark. We are having a graphics shop create us decals for the '70 that we will stick in the little indentions on the bezel. We are just going to paint the rest black. A board member name Briz repops the AC faceplate. Which reminds me, I need to order that.
