    Hi Folks

Doing some year end cleaning and inventory here at the shop, and we are also taking apart the engines/transmission cores that we have accumulated over the past year.

Unknown to us until we took it apart, one of the cores that we recieved, complete with auto trans still attached, is a WS coded 72 STG 1, complete with the number matching BB trans.

I thought I would throw up a post, just on the off chance that someone out there actually has the car it went into. This core came from the N.Carolina area.

Last six of the VIN is 144069

This one is an early production 72 engine, block date code is Oct 30 1971, and it is the early "861" block for the 72's.

Here is the VIN as it appears on the block

    trans vin

Since I recently found the numbers matching BB trans for one of my 70 STG 1 cars, I know how exciting it can be when all the sudden on of your long lost orginal parts shows up.. so if you have the car these parts came from, PM or email me, I am sure we can work out a deal on these parts. I suspect actually that the car may have been junked, and if I don't hear from anyone who has the car, we will then rebuild/restore this rare engine/trans combo back to it's orginal glory, and I will offer it for sale to one of you guys out there.

Hope one of you guys out there has the car..

Needle in the haystack. Hope the car is still around so it can get its heart back. What a find! Keep looking and you may find more gems.

    Jim,
If the owner of the car they belong to doesn't step forward, I would be very interested in buying the pair.

    Hi Shawn -

I checked, and this car is not registered.

Thanks, as this another good reason to keep track of these cars :beer

Just as a suggestion here...... if you know its from a 72 fill in the blanks for the rest of the VIN and ask a police officer to run the VIN if its still active the name of the owner will pop up. Then contact him that way.....................
