Hey guys, can anyone tell me what the transmission angle should be on a full size Buick? I have been trying to chase down a drive line vibration issue following a transmission mount replace by the following owner. I also feel like the Anchor replacement is pushing the trans farther up into the tunnel than need be for some reason. It looks like the rear end is pointed down 6 degrees stock, but the rear of the trans was almost 10 degrees up. This can't be right. With the double cardan joint in the back, I know you don't set it up like you would a traditional single cardan, which would be 3 up in the back, 3 down in the front, as an example, but I do not know how to setup a double cardan on these cars. All the online walkthroughs are for pickups and jeeps with lifts with the cardan usually in the front with the pinion pointed at the sky.

Can someone take a look for me and see how their full size Buick engine is setup by checking the trans angle or just by checking angle on the valve cover? I downloaded an app for my phone to check angle, then just laid my phone down on the cover and at the output shaft and got ten degrees. It is pointed up pretty far into the tunnel. Is the engine supposed to be level, pointed down 3 degrees, up a few degrees to make up for the 6 at the pumpkin or no because of the cardan? ahhh! Someone please help me out. Thanks..

All drive line angles will be different across the board. You have to get your angles set-up on your car with (usually equal and opposite angles for conventional) Seems a CV u-joint should be pretty straight till it gets to the rear yoke of the diff. (IE picture) Things like a different engine, transmission , transmission cross member, rear end control arm length suspension changes all affect the drive line angle. If the transmission tail shaft mount was changed with NO vibration before and after change now has vibration then the trouble is the mount height. If you did not measure the before angle your going to need to tinker.
I do not think there is any book or info on what a trans tail shaft angle will be. it is all relative to the rear end yoke angle. It appears you need to lower your tailshaft a bunch that will solve your trouble. Hope this image helps.

Yes, that all is correct, and I don't disagree, I guess what I was eluding to was someone else with a 71-76 Buick Electra just checking to see how theirs was setup from the factory stock. I can't imagine they were different at all. Same chassis, rear end, double cardan joint driveshaft, th400 and 455 engine. All a C body setup. Thanks for the info.
