Thats a European built car, can't remember who was GM's "Captive Import" for those cars though. Buick just imported them. It'd be fun with a 215V8 or maybe one of those new ecotec motors. I think its way too small for much bigger of an engine without going nuts on the chassis fab work.

Look more like a Opel Kadet to me.

    Per,

You're from Europe, so you know how we all feel about Opel....
How can a car that has Opel badges all over it, been mistaken for a Buick ?

Just because it was in sales brochures together with a Buick (still wearing the Opel name) ?

Is the same model, but built in England (Vauxhall badge) also considered to be a Buick ?

For the car in the advertisement:
    That's not a Kadett, it's an Ascona

    Here's a B series Kadett:

    Here's an A series Ascona:

Erik, true story, Vauxhall was banned from the Norwegian market in the mid 70. The reason was that, (according to roumers), on a quite night you could actually hear them rust. :Dou:

As for the car in the advertisement:
    "That's not a Kadett, it's an Ascona".
Sorry, for the mistake. It seems that you must have been studying this fine brand of automobiles more than me. :TU:

wonder if i could put one of my extra 455's in that, bet that would be a wild ride even with a stock motor. be fun to put a turbo v6 in it like the other style opel i see every year at norwalk.

    Erik,
Buick Opels were never sold here in the U.S. with the Ascona badge. The wagon in question was sold here in 1975 as the Buick Opel 1900 Sportwagon.

The later "Buick/Opels" were actually Isuzus. I had a 1977 Buick/Opel S/C about 10 years ago. It was the early years of the global economy.

Speaking of Isuzus, think the Honda Passport is really built by Honda? Guess again!

I like Opels. Ive got a 78 ascona at a freinds house that im thinking about having shipped over here to the usa.Its a 2 door. I will Agree with you about the rust factor, but I have learned where to weld to prevent the holes appearing. They built the cars with alot of open holes like along th ejack point and the frame crossmember. Once they are sealed and you spray rust proffing in there, they are water tight. Also remove the rubber and tarpaper sound deadener. thye hold a crap load of moisture underneath. As I can remeber most cars had a problem with rust during the 70's- early 80's.Ive got a pic of my electra alsong side my 1st ascona(parted out) side by side before I shipped hte buick. Reminds me of whale next to a mouse

    Buick club doesnt recognize Opel

Buick club will not even allow entry of this Buick, the club says it is not a Buick but an aquired fasset off buick for Europe, and shows here doe not and dont plan to have anything to do with Opel, PS caddy has the little catera and it is made by opel, so do we call it a buicaddy?

In 1983 I bought a 71 Opel wagon in college for $100 that looked just like that. I thought it would get good gas mileage. It only went about 60 mph and got 10-12 mpg.!!!

LIGHTEN UP ON THE OPEL. Rumor has it that the BCA might consider the Opel.

You mean this is not the factory engine????? Front brakes are stock Opel disk !!

I guess AMT is all screwed up also. According to Mr. Doug Hecker, race director for the GSCA Bowling Green race, Opel is a Buick.

Living in N America, cheap petrol and car parts..........how sad can you be to choose Opel :Dou:

Here we call the Opel GT, the poor mans Corvette.

You can put triple-turbos on it: Europe will still be laughing at it.
Be a man about it, and face the big dogs in a heavy Buick................ :moonu:

mid 70s even said BUICK/OPEL on fender

Buick put an emblem on mid 70s Opel and it read BUICK/OPEL and yet one was brought to BCA meet and was not allowed in any class, Buick purchased opel way back in late 50s, and yet all the time it was as we see dealers now excepting another car at their dealership just draw buyers, Buick had Opel on the floor. I liked the GT and as a kid wanted one. Now with hard to find parts on OPEL,i dont know, I know were a Kaddett is sitting and is whole in a salvage yard but a square body has no get up and go for me, maybe a 455 under the hood would do it for me. :3gears:
