As you guys know this forum is free from pop ups and adds. Jim spends a lot of time and effort to keep this awesome forum going. The Buick Small Block community is very small, and without a place like this it would be even harder to share and learn from each other. Sure... If nothing goes wrong in a month, cost is just shy of $400/mo... if that sounds like a lot, trust me, I used to pay quite a bit more.. We have the latest dedicated server, auto backups, unlimited storage, a dedicated T1 line ect ect ect... that's why it stays up, and never slows down. I think we had one outage last year, less then 24 Hours.... and that is only because I did not notice it sooner. There are a number of other costs, domain, ssl certificates ect ect, seems like someone always wants some money... We more or less have covered costs from board donations over the years... some years I have had a pay, other years there is some left over at the end of the year, it pretty much evens out. We seriously looked at advertising a couple years ago... and I bought an expensive program hack to do it, but after looking at it, I realized that to insure that no contributor ever saw an ad, which I won't allow, it was going to be a whole lot more work than I had time to do. Not to mention the time it takes to sell and service all that advertising.. you have to have a bunch to make it worth while. It's nearly a full time job, and I am busy enough running TSP. So I made the decision here last year, that as long as we covered costs, V8 Buick will stay ad free. I have to sit down and finish up the 2019 thread, and create the 2020 thread, I started on that last week, and fell asleep at my desk... ya, it's like that... but i am working on it. You should see me hold a baby girl thats dressed in a hot pink onesie. I feel sorry for the guy who marries her if he ever acted a fool. Sorry for what shes gonna do, after I teach her some things. Hope you get some more site donations from people like me who never have.
