Casey, that thing reminds me WAY to much of a certain medical device that I became aware of shortly after my 40th birthday. :moonu: :ball:

Oh no. There you went and did it.....and we just had him settled down.......This will definitely go to his head and we'll all suffer. Your fault, Tim, just like at Martin with your trim rings.  But I like the look, it's still that way!

Top dogs in what....ET?, Brand?, Vintage?, Displacement?

Do we teardown, say, Larry Weymouth for low ET, Wayne Nelson for fastest Ford, Hemker for Buick etc etc, Paul Richards for fastest 50's car, Jeff Sawruck for fastest small block?

No thanks, :Dou: I think the top dogs race teardown is missing the point.

Then there is the hassle that the race organizers aren't looking for, as well as the logistics of a multi car track teardown if the conditions aren't good. I'm impressed by Terry's teardown, but I wouldn't want to do it at the track.

Certification is good.....make it mean something.

Because many of us have participated for years the cars are tailored for the rules as written.

Don't change the rules just use them.:Do No:

I have to side with Brian on the above statement it would be awful tough to manage that many and who after the race. Rules use them, each of us, not just if we think they will be enforced.

Nice probe Casey. Help me use it and I will vol. to do the extra tech for Dan and Bob. Tim/Joel it looks smaller than I remember...

It seems VMP started an uproar over ET's and I think a point has been stated but is still being missed. We had air that was -80" to 187" and back down during the day. These ET's will not stand in Martin's 2000" air. COPO will not be running 11.50's, Larry's car can not duplicate 11.34's at Martin, Rick's Bird goes back to the 11.80's to 12.00's it has been running etc.

JJ ran an 11.36 at Musclpalooza and everyone jumped for joy. See the corolation or lack of one? JJ went fast on the East coast in good air but caused no stir, evreyone went faster in very good air at VMP on a reasonably sticky track. The short times were pretty low. A bunch of 1.70's were being hit. Again at Martin with 1.8xx and 1.9xx short times and 2000" high air everyone goes back to the same ET's we have been seeing for a solid three years now. Nothing changed but the location. Pete, Larry, Bruno (12.2xx! in the Goat, congrats), Dan's Jav (12.69! a full .3 faster than his previous best with the absolute same set up, did not even re-jet) and Rick all had the same motor as they had earlier in the year and at Stanton. Track and sea level air made all the difference.

Not sure that idea fixes anything but it surely should add some perspective.

The "stir" has been going on for some time.

    Something just triggers the discussion.

One thing I didn't say in the previous post referring to quickest Ford, Buick, 50's Car, small block etc.

Is that those accomplishments should not be diminished by only focusing on overall lowest ET. But should be held in as high regard as any L-88, Hemi Cuda, etc going the lowest ET's.

An L-88 Vette should be quicker than say, Paul Richards Vette. Doesn't mean he isn't any less competitive or works any less.

I think many people are missing the real lesson out of all of this.....if your car goes that much quicker/faster in good air with no changes, what does that say about your current jetting????:Brow:

How to end this, put this to bed.my 2 cants

At Staton we have the track late on Saturday how bout we have a tear down the top 5 cars :eek2: If Julies car is in the top 5 and all the other top 5 top will do it let's go, now that I have a lift in the trailer and some extra room I will bring a motor puller trans jack engine stands, we can pull motors & trans take motors & trans completely apart HAND EIGHT GUYS EIGHT PISTONS! crankshaft, lifters, camshaft, heads, intake, and exhaust manifolds.:Dou: everyone can look:kodak: all you want.

I will go one step further I will take out her interior seats carpet gas tank exhaust whatever I need to do to prove her car to be legal. Like I said I love a challenge any takers.

The problem is everyone has a different idea of what legal is Terry.Tearing into cars will only fuel the fire.Deciding what is legal and what isn't and for whom should be the way to the future.Maybe I'm wrong but you have little league, the minors and the majors all playing on the same field at the same time. The rule makers owe it to the participants to make the rules clear and clear for everybody equally. Can't be the good old boys club.

If Ricks bird is how he has descibed it,and it may be pushed to the razors edge,I can't see how people can claim it is bogus without even teching the car first.Everything about the car is a rumor.

I was there for Terry's teardown and while I wasn't the guy holding the mic I saw what I saw.I challenged Mr.Pontiac on many items. From that I left with an idea of how the game is played. Now when I drive 750 miles to a race and find the rules for me are different...Well what then?

Terry, I remember your teardown. But, I do not know the exact reason you did it. Was it another 'Top 5' racer questioning your legality? Or was it just general bitching? Just curious...:Do No:

    Rick,

That's LOW but I will let it go, the guy who set the vette a blaze is not allowed to go to anymore races, I will not be taking your car apart you can, I will have Julies to take apart.
Three more of the front runners and we are set to go, right after the racing on Saturday, boy how bout the fastest of each make ford, chevy, mopar , pontiac ect......we will have a big party.

The race for "second place" will become hotly contested as the prize will be a beer in one hand and BBQ in the other amongst friends that you wish you could hook up with more than a couple of times a year.

    :beers2:

Tim, it might not be my place to say but *ALL* 440`s used necked down/undercut valves from the factory. Jim really got the short end of the stick on this deal and everybody knows it. All he did was follow the same "stock eliminator" guide lines as everybody else, he had certified and passed to the satisfaction of the tech guys, i heard his car was actually checked with a bore-o-scope which nobody else was subjected to, guy`s where looking inside his window tracks, under the dash, etc... he than ran the number... The problem was the circus going on with people who had nothing to do with the *process* or the *car*. The circus is the only thing that needs change, if the PSMCDR say`s it`s legal to run everybody will just have to trust them, end of story. IMO

    I'm with you, Frank.

How about a 'Certified Stock' program from the F.A.S.T. group for the F/S guys? No law against that. :puzzled:
