We have TWO!! She is just too cute though, how could you say no. She's a Chow-Chesapeake Bay Retriever mix. A big ball of fur is what she really is, 26 pounds of fur. She's almost 6 months old. Took Lucy to see Santa at Petsmart and it was adoption day. She was just to cute and really laid back. I was thinking where were you a year ago. Not that I would ever trade Lucy in, but I couldn't think of having to share my love with two dogs. That night I told Rod about her thinking he would say the usual "What are you crazy Woman!!". Instead he says.. Well maybe it would be a good pal for Lucy ou: See if you had given me a day or two I would have forgotten all about her, but noooooo. I found out what shelter they were at and told Rod. Called to see if they were still there, because she has a sister too. Called Rod back to let him know they were still there and he tells me he knows already because he's got them in a room with him!!! He had a machine to drop off that happen to be just down the way from the shelter. He saw it as a sign that we should get her. He also figured if we were going down with another puppy he was going to bring a friend down too  Our buddy took the sister who is all carmel brown with pink eye liner, nose and lips, weighing in at 32 lbs. Of course this one took to me right away and feels the need to sit on my lap or as close to me as she can. Lucy is not having any part of that. As everyone knows she's a mamma's girl who happens to be a 75lbs lap dog. Which is fine it was her lap first, she doesn't have to share that. We don't have a name for her yet. Heidi is her adopted name. I like it Rod doesn't. So if something better comes along we'll change it. So feel free to suggest names. Danie'
It's difficult to say but I'm thinking.....they don't get too much cuter than that....do they!!!! Congrats, I'm a dog lover. Check out Bow Wows & Meows on the web....my daughter started it.
....tell her to lay off the cat nip - she looks stoned !! Cute ... very cute. Read in a dog book that a name change is good if the dog has been abused, but if not then you should stick with the current one o No:
I vote for "Samantha". She sounds like a sweetheat... When she's bad (and she will be bad ever so often you can shout SAM! But when she's good, you coo her with "Samantha"..... Bet she'll understand the difference. Anyways, just a thought..... p Jim
Your the second person to say that  She's just really into the rawhide, enjoying it before Lucy takes it. Last night Lucy wasn't wanting to share anything with the new puppy. It will change with time. I asked the shelter for as much info they could give me about their life sofar. I was told that they were the last two in a litter. They were on death row at the last shelter because they couldn't find homes for them. They were saved a few hours before being put down. This shelter only had them for a week. So, no abuse as far as anyone knows. How could anyone abuse or not want her?? All she wants to do is love, kiss and cuddle with you. I'm going to run those names by Rod and see what he thinks. Keep them coming!! Who ever comes up with the best name gets to cuddle with her at the Nats!!
We've had cats named Regal and Skylark; also Turbo Kitty. Skyhawk? If you want to stick with the Buick theme.... Or Ethel to go with Lucy? She is soooooooo cute! I can see how you couldn't resist, Danie! Good luck in getting Lucy to share - lol! Keep us updated.... Shari
OMG!!! She is so cute, congrats to you & Rod. If she were a boy I would say name him Bear... but since she's not... Mrs. Bear? lol Ethel is good too.  Or maybe Shana... o No: Beth
I like Ethel. I think Willma means little bear. What do you think of Mabel ?? I don't know why it is so hard to come up with a name for her. Right now Anti Social Butthead is going to be her name. She wants nothing to do with Lucy. Lucy tries to play with her or even looks at her she moves or hides. I'm sure if we give it a few more days they will be the best of buds.
I like Mabel... maybe 2 names... Ethel Mabel or visa versa. How could she not want to have anything to do with Lucy :eek2: :error: Liam said he'll play with Lucy if ya want to send her over. LOL Beth
Well, We are going with Pepper... short for Peppermint Patty from the Peanuts. Now all we need is a male dog we can call Charlie (Blockhead)..
Pepper - that's a cute name, too. Is she getting along with Lucy any better? Best of luck, Danie! Shari
Just wait till she gets about 1 year old and the chow part of her starts to come out. I have a chow lab mix. he was the most friendly dog till he was about 1. Still is to my wife, the boys and I But god forbid anyone to come in the house that he dosent know. All in all he's a great dog Good luck with your new pup.The more people you can keep her around the better.
Our last dog, Buddy, was a Husky/Chow mix. The best dog ever. Lazy as Lazy could be. Shedding wore him out and he had the mastered. He would let any kid crawl all over him. The only time he was ever known to have growled at anyone was when a buddy of ours tried to be funny and take his ice cream cup. Rod and I could take it but no one else and it only happen once in 10 years. Pepper could be different, so far so good. They are getting along better now. Lucy will let the puppy take bones and food away from her and not snap at her. The only thing I have found that Lucy won't put up with is the puppy sitting on my lap. She will snap at the puppy or push her off my lap. I think Lucy is going to let her run the house just as long as she has her lap.
