On My 1969 Rivi, I found that the Compressor clutch switch was bypassed with a manual toggle which works fine.
This weekend I got a notion to get the original switch working or replace. This was prompted by me removing the radio to replace with a new one and having the resulting room.

I can read the old switch pn which is 1386904...
I found one NOS on ebay. Can these be found anywhere else?

Now im having a struggle removing the old one.

ANY TUTORIALS ANYWHERE OR ADVICE ON REMOVING THE DASH OR DASH FACING???
    OR THIS SWITCH???
    THANKS

ALSO, I want to replace the original H&C duct work, because it smells very mildewy.
    Any ideas out there????????
    MIKE

Had mine out on the 68. Its a pain. Best take off the dash pad, the center a/c duct the radio and ash tray. remove the cover under the column. then you can see the left cage nut holding the control unit in place. I believe it is a 3/8 or 7/16 nut. the nut stays on the unit and does not come off separate. loosen that one the one on the right and then you can pull the unit back. You may have to remove all the screws and 3 nuts from the ins cluster to get enough room to pull it completely out the front. if your lucky you can get it out the radio or ash tray hole..

    Thanks tons!
You always have such good advice!
How does the pad come off.
Dont want to do that if I don't have to.
After loosening the pass side nut, the cntrl panel starts to come off. When I loosen the divers side nut by the column, the cntrl panel doesn't
budge on that side. Am I on the wrong nut. This one is right against the column.
Is there any way to just take the switch off and leave the temp slide on there,,,,don't even want to mess with it!!!!
Everything will come out the radio hole if I don't pull out the temp slider!
Does the switch plug into the pnl?

Well you can do as you want. its your car. The dash pad comes off fairly easy.
1, open the glove box and pull the arm that it rest on to the left and fully open the door as far as it will go. You can even remove it if you want to.
2 remove the glove box liner. The sides fold in and the top will come down then it slides out. be careful this is usually very fragile.
3 Reach your hand up in there and feel for 2 3/8" nuts that hold the dash pad to the metal dash board. There also may be one or two on the top edge near the defrost vents. If you lay on your back and look up in there you will see them.
4 Once the nuts are off pull firmly at each end and in the middle. there is post that engage into spring clips. once they pop off gently lift up like on a hinge towards the windshield. On the R side the a/c vent is connected by a hose. work it off and then you can fully remove the pad from the right side of the car.

Ive done mine so many times I can have it fully out in about 10 mins. get a Chassis manual and you'll find everything you need in there step by step.

Hey Briz, do you know of another source for that part? Other than the one I have found on ebay?
