Looking to run A/C in my 84 regal with a 76' 455. Are any of you running A/C with your swap? If so, did you just use the compressor associated with the motor or did you use the one that was in your car? If you used the one for the car, were there mounting issues? Any information/photos would be great! Thanks in advance.
rjfox From what I understand , and also plan on having in my next 455 Buick Regal project, that the accessory brackets and the accessories ( like the A/C compressor and Alternator) from the Buick 3.8 V6 will work with some slight modifications , like elongating some holes and trim off and out some areas . Here's a picture I know there are a few more pics out on the web with A/C on Buick Regal with BBB 455's in it. I will locate them, and know I have a couple on my computer. here's a video , look closely at the beginning. rjfox I also seen this thread over on Turbobuick.com . It basically is discussion about a retrofit A/C system for a G-body that eliminates the bulky A/C box in the engine bay area , and replaces the complete a/c system and heater system, under the dash with a smaller complete self contained system, and includes a "heater delete" plate ,that has the bulkhead Fittings already mounted in it for the A/C and Heater hoses, it also act's has mounting area for the contained system. The factory controls would be eliminated and a 3 knob control box goes in it's place, no vacuum hoses, just a few wires. http://www.turbobuick.com/forums/th...-air-under-dash-unit-has-it-been-done.391683/ Maybe you could incorporate it into your build.

I would love to, but that A/C system would almost double the cost of my entire build. That might be something worth looking into as this project progresses. Right now I've got less than $3000 into this project WITH the purchase of the car. :TU:

Yup, I'm running the '77 231 V6 brackets on my 455. I've re-centered the accessories since this picture. I'm running a larger than stock alternator and it's screwed with the alignment because the rear support bolt didn't line up. But the point is, the A/C works :TU: I've considered looking for the later 80's 3.8L accessory brackets. I think they are better designed.

Before I get too involved with my swap, can the v6 cruise bracket be used? What about the v6 mountsmounts andand frame brackets?
You'll need different mounts/brackets. I replaced the 455 brackets with some new replacements. I was able to use some frame holes for the new pads but had to drill others. I'm going to come back in and toss in some welds just to be extra cautious. As for the cruise, I haven't gotten mine to work yet but hope to get it figured out this summer.
