I'm toying with the idea of removing my stock air cleaner/canister set up on my '72 350 Q-jet Skylark. Is there a better air cleaner out there to help performance? Maybe K & N? Poston's ram air kit? I've been told that removing the stock air cleaner set up and going with an after market won't make much difference in performance. o No:
The issue is one of demand. If simply driving around town, the stock unit will provide what you need. If, however, you use the engine at WOT, the after market provides some eye opening ideas. You could try one of the replacement elements, thereby providing the emission friendly, driveable units, which do not affect cold driveability. Food for thought... Ray
