So, I'm pretty sure I have a 68-69 350 air cleaner on my 455 with a chrome lid. It's a skinny snorkel and the breather is set up for the passenger side. Chrome Valve covers have the breather on the passenger side too. I have a few 1970s big block air cleaners in the garage that I could put on, but the breather is on the driver side. I have the plain valve covers that would match but then I'd have to give up these chrome valve covers. Are these chrome covers the 68-69 GS valve covers or stage 1 valve covers? I'd be fine going with a plain looking air cleaner and buick red valve covers. I like the idea of a nondescript and plain looking engine that will some day have a bit of power.
WOW! There is another plug slowing your QM times down! Clean the dust off of the lid and install it upside down and it'll still filter the air while letting a lot more in until you decide what to change it around to.
Those covers are shaped like 68-69, could be stock ones that got chromed, could be dealer add on '69s, could be '69 Stage 1. The red and 'Buick' are someone's idea of custom, not stock. Stock decal would be '400-4' or '400-4/Stage 1' ('69). I think you're right about the air cleaner. Patrick
Agreed. Someone customized these valve covers. They seem ok. Some days I like them, other days not so much. The chrome 350 air cleaner lid has a 455 sticker on it too.
I just put that dusty one on for a picture. I run the small 350 air cleaner with a tall filter on it. I think it's the filter for the 455. Seems to seal ok yet doesn't close completely that way and let's more air in.
